Overall I am happy with how everything went with my father's funeral. Megan was very attentive and responsive to emails. Very professional. The only two things I wasn't happy with was when we got to the wake, we weren't able to go in until all family arrived. I didn't know that prior. I was planning to come in to help set up. I was happy with how they set everything up though. Also I wish there would have been some discussion or direction on the funeral procession. I feel they made an assumption everyone would know how to handle driving in the procession, and we ended up with two cars in an accident. Not the homes fault of course but a refresher may have been helpful. I do want to thank the entire staff for their professionalism and guidance through this diffficult process. I know my mom was very happy with all the service. I would give them five stars for professionalism, but overall 4 stars because there were a few missteps in communication.

I entrusted this company with my son's funeral arrangements. The unprofessionalism this company showed was ridiculous. This funeral home was given my life insurance information before they even picked up my son's body. Then 3 days before his funeral I received a call from the funeral home stating that they were not going to take my insurance and I had 2 days to come up with $10,000 or the funeral would not go on. Long story what it boiled down to was THEY DID NOT WANT TO WAIT FOR MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO PAY OUT. REAL SYMPATHY FOR A MOTHER THAT ONLY HAD 1 INSURANCE POLICY, NO MONEY, and SON WAS HIT AND KILLED BY A HIT AND RUN DRIVER.WE CAME UP WITH THE MONEY AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE FUNERAL WE COULD NOT GO NEAR MY SON BECAUSE HE HAD AN ODOR AND HE WAS DISCOLORED ABOUT 10 SHADES DARKER THAN HE WAS 3 DAYS BEFORE. IF YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT USING THIS COMPANY RUN FAST.

The details and "mechanics" of the service were coordinated as they should be,and they have a beautiful facility, but I felt that they were inattentive and lacked the interpersonal skills to interact with and support a grieving family during the planning and the services. I did not see a "service attitude." Most disturbing was the lowering of the coffin into the grave by the gravediggers while the family was still seated and assembled in the tent at the cemetery. According to personnel there, it is part of the graveside service and is done at "90 percent of our funerals." The family was greatly disturbed by this practice as we were not expecting it nor were we informed of it or given a choice when planning the service. I saw this as another example of being somewhat "impersonal" and mechanical in their work. I understand that this is an everyday occurrence to them, but not to a grieving family. People don't care how much you know unless they first know how much you care.
