Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch

About

BMGR offers a unparalleled lodging experience nestled in between Dixie National Forest and Escalante Grand National Monument in gorgeous Southern Utah.

Story

BMGR is the perfect place for a unique outdoor vacation, a place to host your next family reunion or retreat, and one of the most magical destinations to tie-the-knot.

We also have one of Southern Utah's most highly acclaimed restaurants, Sweetwater Kitchen. Open nightly, SWK serves garden-fresh plates and gourmet cuisine inspired by our worldly chef Scott Ashley. Let SWK cater to your palette during your stay or create full meal plans for a large party.

The lodging at the BMGR includes cabins and a range of accommodations from bunk rooms to suites in our Main Lodge as well as one-of-a-kind Tipis and Cowboy Tents.

During your stay, the possibilities are endless. The lodge is nestled one mile from the illuminated Painted Desert of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and two miles below the abundant aspen and pine tree forested peaks of Boulder Mountain is the Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch (BMGR). The Ranch is located right off the beautiful scenic Hwy 12 and sits on a 150 acres, surrounded by the Dixie National Forest, presenting unobstructed and breathtaking panoramic views.

We are within a short drive to Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park and just a few miles from the famous Burr Trail.

If you are looking for adventure you have come to the right place. Fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, stargazing, bird-watching, horseback riding and canyoneering are just a few of the recreational activities accessible in the surrounding area. With little or no crowds, spectacular scenery and adventure, Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch provides an unparalleled experience.

Come enjoy the serenity and natural beauty, where the stars are bright and so are the smiles.

Was intending to camp outside town on a crosscountry bike trip a few years ago but the temperatures were subzero - some kids at the grill in town rang up this place and they had a room available and the receptionist stayed up very late to welcome us in. One of the best value places I stayed in my whole America trip. I was peeved we hadn't arrived earlier to properly appreciate it, would definitely stay again if I was in the area!

Boulder Mountain Guest Ranch is incredible! It may not be for everyone, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Talk to the staff--- They are always kind and insightful, the food is excellent, and it's the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of the escalate/grand staircase area. There are many many exquisite hikes and drives all around, BMGR is the perfect place to begin your adventures!!

During our stay in June 2017 there was an awful heatwave with temps in the 100s. Our room did not have air so we were bummed. They did have ceiling fans though which helped a little. We stayed 2 nights. We were told the chef at the onsite restaurant was ill and the kitchen would be closed the 2nd day. The kitchen is run separately from the hotel portion. And the horse riding outfit is also separately owned & ran. So different people to contact for each. They have culligan water dispensers in the rooms and ours ran out the 2nd morning before ranch staff was around so we found some of the restaurant staff who got us and others some water refills. Thanks to them for being helpful. This was too rustic for us and we won't return. I'm sure there are others who'd like this though!

Way, way off the beaten track and absolutely worth a visit for two or three days. We used the Guesthouse mainly for overnighting between trips out to Bryce Canyon and so didn't explore the local trails, but I suspect they are wonderful. The highlights of our stay were several creative and delicious meals - far better than expected - and hanging around the fireplace afterwards trading stories of the day and, sorry to say, checking our phones (btw WiFi was pretty good but not great). Highly recommended overall.
