Brice Station is a place I cannot stop coming back to. It's one of my favorite places in the world to visit! The vineyard is run by the Mast family - some of the most warm, welcoming and generous people I have ever met. And with their vineyard being at such a high elevation, the grapes are extra special - you can't find wine quite like theirs anywhere else in the states! They also have a pottery shop right next door run by Pamela Quyle, Dolores Mast's sister. The pottery you'll find there is made from the clay found right on their own property! They also provided pottery throwing classes for those interested! If you're ever nearby, be sure to check it out and meet everyone there. I guarantee you'll have a fantastic time!

Awesome people run this place. Good selection of wine to try, as well as olive oil.

YOU HAVE TO STOP HERE! Brice Station is so worth the barely 4 mile trip up highway 4 from downtown Murphys. First, the wine is delicious. The wine maker, Stuart Mast, crafts some of the finest wine Calaveras has to offer, and you aren't paying the price for the downtown Murphys rent. The grounds at Brice Station are gorgeous and rich with interest. Stu's wife, Dolores, has green thumbs to her elbows and there are things in bloom everywhere you look! As you enter off the highway to the left, you see the 7 acres of vines where the Bordeaux varietals grow. You might see some of the sheep, geese, or chickens. The tasting room is a retrofitted bomb shelter that is so magnificent. Everyone who pours wine is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I cannot emphasize enough how genuinely good these people are. At the top of the drive there is a stunning view overlooking San Domingo Canyon with a grassy knoll and stage area for live music. I want to have my wedding here. There are old barns and vintage wagons....just so many things. Do yourself a favor and go to Brice Station first, then you can walk around downtown until you can't do anymore tastings.
