Never show when you call them, emergency or not it's ridiculous. You are obviously calling because you need their help and it seems to be a burden.

It's unbelieable how unreliable they are with nonemergency calls. My experience goes as follows: I call them because there was a vehicle parked illegally in front of my house; not the biggest deal. However, let me explain. There's a handicap sign posted right in front of my house, which is there for my elderly mother; this is where she parks her car because it is the most convient for her (with a handicap parking permit, of course). I borrowed her car to go to work, and when I get back home at 9:30PM, I find an unfamiliar car parked in the handicap spot. Now, this wouldn't bother me if they owned a parking permit, but they did not. There was also no parking nearby; the street was packed. Probably due to the fact that there was a house party going on in a nearby house, with their music inconsiderably blasting on a SUNDAY night. So I park my mother's car temporarily elsewhere for the time being, while I report the illegally parked car. I call, I give all the information I can provide, and the dispatcher assured me that someone will be there shortly. One hour passes... no one. Two hours pass... no one. Another half hour passes and still no one. Not that it mattered anyway because a few minutes after 12AM, finally the owner of the car nonchalantly shows up and drives off. Like I said earlier, it wasn't the biggest deal to begin with, but it would have been nice if the loser that decided to park in my mother's handicap parking spot get a big fat ticket. It's a shame that people constantly get away with parking in handicap spots without a permit, and leave those who actually own one without a parking spot. It's an even bigger shame that it's to be expected for the Bridgeport police to either show up late or not show up at all for calls such as these. I get you guys are busy, but at least act like you care.

I have lived in Bridgeport for almost a year now. I have lived in both Fairfield, Stamford and Westport before this and have dealt with all of these departments. There is no secret that Bridgeport is cheap and that it doesn't attract the great of people but it's affordable for some that are trying to get back on their feet. Out of all of these departments, the Bridgeport Police Department has been the worst. The reason I will not give the department one star because I have found the sargeant, a very few amount of police officers to be genuinely helpful and supportive, the records office has been okay to deal with-not great but I think they do what they can. Keep in mind these are people and they have to deal with a lot for this city which may perhaps be why they take so long to get to you. I have waited over 45 minutes for them to address a stalking neighbor situation which I ended up being late to work for. The officer I had was an absolute jerk, unprofessional, and didn't even get my neighbors full name on the report which I needed for my lawyer. You can also file Complaints against officers if they truly are as incompetent as this officer. I am not one to get into trouble as I honestly am too busy and work too much to do so. It is nice to know that the law enforcement official will be there to protect me if I need it though. As far as I'm concerned, it really comes down to what cop you get and how busy they can get. I hope that this does change but I also recognize these men do work hard and are people that have families, lives, and really do want to do their jobs. I thank the police officers that do this and hope that ones that neglect this are removed from these respectful Positions or trained.

The police chief needs to be fired. Not a true cop by any stretch of the imagination. Has no interest in standing up for his employees, the good officers of Bridgeport. Armando Perez, you should be ashamed to call yourself an officer of the law, let alone a leader.
