Cactus Jack's Saloon & Grill
"Picture this: Summer 2001 and Gary is on Widespread Panic Tour. He hit one of the best shows ever in Paolo Soleri Amphitheater in Santa Fe, New Mexico followed quickly by Red Rocks. This would be the last time that Gary would have the freedom to just go “on tour”, but it was the opportunity of a lifetime. The owner, Allen Major better known as Cactus Jack was ready to sell the business."

We stopped at Cactus Jack’s for a bite as we were driving through Evergreen. We split the hot ham and cheese sandwich with sweet potato fries. It was perfect for lunch! The staff was very friendly.Food: 5/5
3rd time at this establishment and the service hasn’t improved. It’s beautiful on the inside, and the ambience isn’t okay. The problem is the service. There is no service. No one is attentive and they take very long to greet you and do anything else. Just sat 30 minutes waiting for server to come greet us. She came around after the first 10 minutes to give us menus and then said she’d be back but she never did after 20 minutes so we just left. We were with our dogs so we were dining outside. I was excited because they have a menu for dogs here but the server just never came back. Just very disappointing. It was our 3rd time and definitely our last. It’s always something new. I get the feeling they don’t like tourists or outsiders or people of color here. Just disappointing. It has potential but they really need to get better servers.
An eclectic bar next to the waterfall of Evergreen lake. The inside is very dimly lit even during the day; I don't personally drink or go to bars so as far as the atmosphere of the interior goes I'm not the one to ask. The exterior atmosphere however is super nice. I highly recommend relaxing by the stream and waterfall on the outdoor patio with a cool drink in the summer and grabbing some food. I got a burger and sweet potato fries, my friend got an ahi salad and the kids got wings, all of the food was great!
We arrived. We found out seats. We all ordered the same burger at different temperatures. The fries were Fantastic. The burgers were all rare...close to raw. We asked for medium and well done. The service was great. Your cook was a joke.
Very friendly staff, great drinks and food, sometimes they have live music and they let dogs on the patio. Karaoke on Saturday nights at 8pm is always a good time. Highly recommend! Disclosure: not a ton of parking around Parking: Small lot next to the building is usually full, some street parking by the dam or down the road to the right if you're at the fork
This is an awesome small town bar and grill. Great music and beautiful view. Great place for family during the day and a fun adult time at night. You will meet awesome locals. Have fun: best green chili in town… or mountainFood: 4/5
Stopped and had lunch here. The band was great. Good vibes in the air. Food and drink were good. The cactus Jack's sauce mixed with honey mustard is the way to go on the chicken fingers. Didn't wait long for a table. Staff was friendly and prices were very fair. Good place to stop.
17 bucks for 3 basic pieces of chicken and a small cup of mashed potatoes. That was their Tuesday "daily special" rate. We ordered burgers, lackluster. Highway robbery. No wifi offered, as it would interfer with their staff handheld devices, waitress didn't know how to take an order with pencil and paper. Needed to ask for utensils, basics were just not there on a slow Tuesday late afternoon. They add 4% to your bill to tip the kitchen staff because waiters are too greedy to split tips themselves. Management refuses to pay a living wage to staff, utter shame. For the price and quality of food, lots of corners being cut. Medium raw burger doesn't even have the slightest hint of red in the middle. +1 The creek in the back patio is the best. Expensive overrated food and service, but the added costs go to new handheld devices the staff can use.
EDIT: The owner responded to my review. I think that's very professional. I definitely don't need free food out of it. Thank you for the offer though. I just wanted to state what happened. I love your restaurant. The location is wonderful. Sitting right along side the creek. It was nice to sit outside even in October. The food itself was great. We had the pretzels and cheese as a starter. I had the Diner burger for lunch. It was good. The brioche bun is soft but not soggy. The hamburger itself is handmade. It definitely was not a "pressed" burger. My husband had the Cuban Sammy. He said it was also good. The service was very good. The waiter checked in us enough times to know we were taken care of but not so much he was annoying. The music, here is the problem. The guy definitely played some decent music. Every other word outside of playing music was him asking for a tip. Maybe that works for some just not for me. I'd come back for the food and the service.
Cool, laid back atmosphere. Enjoyed sitting on the patio, right by the river. Tables had umbrellas, which was handy when it started to rain on us.. .allowed us to stay out there. Burgers were real good….love the WSP themed names! Our server was courteous & pleasant, but the service was poor. She just didn’t check on us often… & it took a while for our drink orders to arrive. They may have been short staffed? Will still go there again and give it another go next time I’m in town.
