Cafe Beignet - Canal Street
"Our newest Cafe Beignet is located on one of the most popular streets in the downtown area, just outside the French Quarter. With front facing windows and outdoor patio, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the city's bustling activity and passing streetcars. It serves breakfast, lunch, and beignets all day long.Built in the 1800s, the building is one of New Orleans' oldest that displays a beautiful cast-iron facade, a popular design at the time. This decorative display derives from Spanish culture and has been preserved."

We tried this location while visiting New Orleans for a few days. We actually passed the line a few times while it was longer and finally jumped in after it had shortened. Yes the tables are small and close together but it's city life so it's kind of expected. The line moved pretty fast and the food and drinks were great! I'd visit them again! Kid-friendliness: Food choices are good for adults and children. Parking: Not a lot of parking available. It's on a main street with LOTS of foot traffic so you pretty much eat there if the tables are available or grab and go.
loved the experience! The coffee w/ chicory was clutch!!! The crayfish omelet was okay. I've never seen green peppers and tomatoes cut that large in an omelet. and there wasn't crayfish inside the omelet just poured on top...it had really good flavor. And the grits could use a little help‍ Them man-catching Benigets were EVERYTHING they were supposed to be!! Loved it!!!
Food was delicious, We had the Beignets and the Cajun hash browns. Both were delicious! Big line, but it moved quickly. There was an automated piano playing pop songs and we had a great time figuring out what was playing - more fun that just background music. Definitely worth checking out!
While visiting NOLA, we decided to have breakfast at Cafe Beignet one morning. Originally, we went to the one on Bourbon St. but it had rained and there was only outdoor seating at that location, so we decided to go to the one on Canal St. It's a cute restaurant on the main street. The cashiers were super friendly. There was a decently long line, but it went by fast. Our food came out to our table less than 10mins after we sat down. Everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the cajun hashbrowns and they were really good, I'd eat them again! The beignets, however, were very disappointing. It was my first time trying them and they were VERY thick/doughy and had no flavor. I'd recommend Morning Call Coffee Stand if you want some really good beignets. Other than the beignets not being good, everything was nice. The only thing that I didn't like too much was that the tables are small and round and so are the chairs. Being that I have thick thighs, those chairs were uncomfortable lol. And since there was a group of 6 of us it was hard for us all to fit in one spot with the small tables. I really liked the self-playing piano, that was cool. I would recommend this place, just not the beignets.
This location on Canal St, the line wasn’t too bad and there was plenty for places to sit outside or inside. We ordered a lemonade, iced cafe au lait with caramel, and an order of beignets. The lemonade tasted fresh, and not too sweet or watered down. My husband’s coffee was good, but we came for the beignets! My husband loved them, and they were fresh and perfectly coated with powdered sugar. My husband thought this was better than Cafe du Monde, but I’m the opposite. The beignets were got but a little dense for my liking.
I went to try the famous beignets and they were really good, great size for the price, hot, and fluffy, not too heavy. I also tried the Cafe Au Lait and I was not impressed with it at all, in fact it was tasteless. The line was pretty long and took about an hour to get through it. The service was not great extremely slow but it's a NOLA must.
Beignets were fine, I really loved the French sausage omelette though. The place is not expensive but don't expect anything to blow your mind. The staff is not friendly but the worst thing... Plastic silverware? Really? In 2022? Dude. That's such a disappointmentFood: 4/5
Cute Cafe with a lot of options. They have a self playing piano playing jazz tunes which was cool. I had the omelet and my boyfriend had scrambled eggs and bacon. We were disappointed that the bignets were overcooked.
The beignets are better than everywhere else. I can say that. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the hours on their website are not correct. Had to wait for them to open, and they weren’t very friendly about the inconvenience. Even at that, they opened 5 minutes later than the hours posted on the door with about 20 people waiting outside. It’s not hard to ensure that your own website and the posted hours at the restaurant match.
Beautiful cafe and of course powdered delicious beignets. I appreciated the Disney themed music and jazz! Also had the mocha coffee and praline pecans! Can’t wait to come back to NOLA.
