Delicious breakfast spot. Really enjoyed the local inspired food. Everything was prepared exceptionally well and the staff was super friendly. We also enjoyed good coffee and we're comfortable in the space. It's counter order and they have a great menu with tons of selections for everybody including vegetarians. Vegetarian options: Good options for vegetarians.
A friend recommended this place & I’m so glad we tried it. It was so good we went back multiple times. I love how they cook the fruit inside the pancakes, instead of placing fruit only as toppings. It taste delicious. The staff is so kind, and I appreciate how everything indoor/outdoor was so clean.Food: 5/5
Bright open airy cafe with a surfer vibe in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Food and drink choices are creative and delicious! Delighted to find Cafe Topes sources from some of our favorite local establishments Prager Bros bread for toast-so good. Seaside market tri tip - oh wow - you must try anything with this in it or on it - I can’t even describe the flavor and deliciousness of this famous “Cardiff Crack”! Service with a smile was friendly, efficient and fun. We hardly sat down and already our coffee drinks were arriving. Delicious rich strong smooth and beautiful coffees! Food was well prepared and all ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. I had veggie scramble and was surprised to find so many types of veg included, even green beans and asparagus. Absolutely delicious. Nothing over salted or greasy. My husband said his sausage breakfast burrito with house made chips was the best breakfast burrito he’s ever had! We are excited about returning soon to try anything/everything else on the menu, especially the cinnamon rolls. We visited mid- week, mid-day, so no problem finding street parking and no line to order at the counter. Weekends you may have to be patient. It’s worth it! PS- dog and kid friendly. Inside or out it’s spacious. Front tables are along the sidewalk, side of building is fairly large patio with umbrellas enclosed with a fence. 5/16/24 - and we are back again! Same amazing friendly welcoming service. Coffee drinks and food both come out really fast. Hubby said his mushroom cheeseburger was really good - on par with what he makes at home. Not sure he’s ever said that about a restaurant burger! I had The 222 with French toast great crisp on outside, custard-creamy inside. Amazing. Sub’d avocado for the meat. Eggs perfectly cooked, fluffy and light not dry. Fruit on top was actually ripe and delicious. Another exceptional experience. We will definitely be back again to try more!
Seemingly well staffed but waited as second in line for about 20 minutes before we were able to place our order. The girl taking the orders at the counter was also doing all the lattes. No acknowledgement of the long wait and was kind of unfriendly when taking our order. Food was pretty good and came out more quickly. Coffee was good. Our server was wonderful and really seemed to be doing a lot of the work to make up for the gal taking the orders.
Stopped by during my solo trip from NY due to good reviews. This place did not disappoint. It was a busy late Saturday afternoon but the service was quick and friendly and the food was tasty! Would def come back when in the area again which is hopefully soon because I love it here!Food: 5/5
Great cafe spot. Came here for breakfast with my family. It was recommended. We ordered the tri-tip eggs Benedict, French toast with a side of bacon, and two kids pancake plates. Wife gave the Benedict a 10/10. I wanted something different so I went with French toast. I really enjoyed it. Not overly sweet, but you can sweeten it up if needed. Bacon was crispy and made to perfection. Kids loved their pancakes. I recommend this place.
Café Topes is a cute location, but I am surprised it has such a high rating given that the food itself was not amazing. The atmosphere is very nice as you're close to the ocean, and the interior is decorated very cutely. I ordered the pork belly Benny and the cinnamon roll, as well as a Mexican mocha. The pork belly had a lot of fat and was very chewy, definitely ranking on the lower end for pork belly Benedict for me. I prefer the pork belly jabanero Benedict from snooze a.m. The eggs were good, but everything together was just alright. The hashbrowns tasted too oily and bland. My Mexican Mocha was alright, but lacked flavor. The cinnamon roll was the most disappointing. I ordered it dirty, which means it came loaded with cream cheese icing. The portions were nice and the food looked beautiful and was plated very nicely, but the taste was sort of bland and not something that would make me want to come back. The cream cheese icing was not sweet and tasted more like something savory rather than a dessert item. The cinnamon roll itself was rather dry, and I was disappointed overall. The service was nice and the atmosphere was very nice as well, but I was disappointed by the flavors of the food. I would not recommend this place over others, and I am a bit puzzled by the high rating. Everything looked picture perfect, but the quality of the food felt sacrificed. Overall, it was good for a quick bite, but I would not come back to this location.
Best breakfast and lunch in the area, maybe even SoCal. I've been here a few times. Food is outstanding, never had a bad meal here. Food is always on point , fresh ingredients and good portions. I highly recommend this place. Service is great, you order at the counter, get a number and they bring food to your table. Plenty of outside seating too. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu
Wow! The food was phenomenal! We ordered the country burrito, the rustic breakfast sandwhich and the huckleberry cheesecake french toast seasonal item and everything was so delicious. The coffee was good too! I haven't had great breakfast like this in a long time. We will definitely be returning and recommending to anyone looking for a tasty breakfast spot!
Absolutely delicious. Both sweet and savory items on the menu are equally strong and flavorful. Everyone will find something they like here. The avocado toast is delicious.Food: 5/5
