We bought new home from Ryland Homes / Cal Atlantic in Colorado nearly a year and a half ago and since day one have been unhappy with our prefinished hardwood floors:  heaving, gaping, broken boards, boards cut short (not concealed by molding.)  Since moving in we've had at least 6 meetings with representatives from Guy's Floor about the issues with our hardwood floor, and to date Guy's has made 4 major repairs attempting to correct multiple issues.  After witnessing  an argument between Cal Atlantic and Guy's Floor about who's fault the issue was in our home, Cal Atlantic promised they would make it right, but here we are more than a year later, we are being told to accept many of the issues...  We finally decided to pay a third party inspector, who wrote up our hardwood floors as "DEFECTIVE" due to numerous gaps, but Cal Atlantic and Guy's continue to say the gaps in our floor are within acceptable tolerance, or not repairable. It doesn't matter what season we are in we are told our floors are the victim of "SEASONAL GAPING,"  and our only option to try and improve things would be to purchase a continually pay for the operation of a household humidifier.   
Beyond the issues with our floor we have had our sewer lateral replaced twice, our utilities were out of easement and have been moved twice, but still not correct (waiting for a third attempt), drainage issues...   I could go on and on with issues that we've had over the past year, and getting issues fixed correctly is another topic I could write pages about.  Cal Atlantic has fallen down many times!   In summary if you're looking for quality and a company who stands behind their product then I would think twice before buying a new home from Cal Atlantic!
