I recently have had a rather unprofessional traffic stop in this area, and after some investigation have found that many people that have been stopped here were put through similar incidents. Being someone who comes from a military background I believe it to be an issue in upper management to allow untrained, or possibly incompetent officers to be patrolling. If you are like me and search for police department reviews after being stopped be warned; expect rude, short responses, a tense atmosphere, and conduct unbecoming of an officer. Disclaimer: This is a personal opinion based on services received and should not be used as a bias towards the Calera Police Department in any way. You should use your own judgement during any interaction with a member of the Calera Police Department.

Once, I was staying at the hotel in Calera for work and decided to walk down the street to get dinner. Boy was that a mistake, I got stopped by police, searched, and given several field sobriety tests. I didn't know something like walking down the street would be taken as suspicious in such a small town but now I know. Yes, I was totally sober. No, I will never spend another dime in Calera.

My Father in law was supposed to be in court after not being able to get in touch with him we contacted the incompetent police department in Calera. I was informed he did not show up for court so they suggested we file a missing persons report in our state. We were able to find out that he had been arrested there. I called back to speak with Don the Chief of police who said "what do you want me to do about it." This is not the reaction you would expect from a professional in this type of position. PROTECT AND SERVE. Turns out that he was 10 min. late and when he walked in they arrested him. Save your time and money and do not bother going through this Back woods town.

yeah, don the Chief doesn't do his job right. i've meet alot of cops and lets just say the calera ones are pretty much the worst at there job i've seen mall cops do better then them. they spit in your face when you get pull over there very disrespectful about what they say and how they do it, they are very VERY. unprofessional.
