Sorry but I'm biased.... I've worked closely with these guys in pursuits and as the cover officer during both routine traffic stops, as well as felony stops. They have also covered me in a number of felony stops, both in and out of vehicles. They're just a bunch of "professional joes" that are a credit to their department.   I remember one incident in which we had a jumper near children's hospital over the 51st over pass. The guy wanted to jump off the bridge and was backing up traffic on the freeway. CHP assisted us in the slowing of freeway traffic and also provide rear security while negotiations took place.   The jumper eventually decided against jumping, which would've been gross (seen my share of suicides and they're not for the squimish or faint of heart).   I remember another incident in which they chased an armed felony vehicle (211PC) off the freeway and to the west Oakland BART station where the suspects bailed out.  We assisted them and worked together in apprehending both suspects along with their weapons.  I later testified in court as to my role in the assist to CHP. The interagency cooperation was great between the two departments.

I had a fix it ticket, I came in, they signed off, and I walked out. I wasn't beaten or arrested and even was greeted and dismissed with a smile!!! Whoohoo!

I had a fix-it ticket for tail light from another city. I phone that PD in city was told any peace officer can sign off on it. Provided that its inspected and in working order. Date was near as I almost forgot about it. Passing by telegraph ave to Oakland I pull in lot. Went in and was help by officer immediately. Came out inspected the tail light telling me to do a series of step off/on procedure. Sign off my ticket and all I need to do was send it in. Less than ten minutes in and out with no problem.
