Great service In and out in 20 minutes to get temporary license to replace the one I had lost. I advise to make an appointment. Queues are very well managed. My staff was very cordial and nice. Huge improvement over the last 10 years. Now a good example for other agencies/DMV offices.

The customer service is the worst and so unprofessional. I spent half a day waiting in the office to be told that I couldn't do what I needed plus, "the lady at the counter should've caught it earlier before making you wait" with a huge ass attitude like I offended her in all sorts of ways. You all need to get better workers. The Asian tubby woman who works there, I hope you get the bad karma you deserve.

Horrible service, dismissive employees, long lines and attitude. I only gave it one star because if you don't you can't write a review. At least I didn't see that woman with the 24" fingernails who couldn't type (only her whole job), and if you complained about how slow and rude she was, she would get up and walk away. Seriously, she would type using a long, unsharpened pencil and type one letter at a time MIND NUMBINGLY slowly. Anyone remember this lady? She was THE WORST and at DMV that's saying something. I go to Walnut Creek these days, slightly my professional and a little less rude. Santa Cruz/Capitola DMV is (was?) great! No lines, very nice older 'couple' ran the office. Worth the drive. Really...worth the drive if you're looking at 3-4 hours getting bumped around in Oakland, might as well make a day of it.

I'm not sure if it's this DMV or the whole system in general but that was one of the worst experiences of my life. I arrived shortly before they opened to a line of about 100, that line moved fairly quickly and I was in the building in about a half hour. After filling out 2 incredibly confusing forms to get an ID and to get new plates/registration. I then waited another hour to be helped. I was asked before I got my application if I had gotten a smog check. I haven't, but the guy at the front desk assured me that it would be okay. Well apparently it wasn't. I needed a smog check, and apparently a power of attorney to get my car registered in CA. I read the website before going, and knew about the smog check - but the language is so frustratingly confusing that it wasn't clear if I needed one or not. And on none of the information provided online did it mention that I needed the limited power of attorney. Really happy that I wasted almost 2 hours of my time, literally to not have anything at all done about my situation.

In and out in 1 hour to renew drivers lic. Seems streamlined, so if you have all your paperwork and know what you're doing, there shouldn't be any problems...line was out the door and stretched around the corner, but it moved really fast. There is only one line, I did not have an appointment either.
