CPM's newer Michigan East apartments are excellent! My spacious apartment (2 bdrm) surpasses all other places I've lived as a student; amenities include 2 bathrooms, central AC, washer and dryer, dishwasher, fireplace, and balcony. Rent is low compared to comparable properties closer to campus. Carol, the on-site property manager, is friendly and helpful, and any issues I've had here (maintenance or otherwise) have generally been resolved quickly. The quiet neighborhood location is nice but lacks proximity to many bus routes, making access to a car desirable. Great for grad students and postdocs.

Update: I've been here for almost 3 years now. Still five stars!

This is our fifth year living at Michigan East. These are nice apartments very reasonably priced and located in a family friendly neighborhood close to the urbana public schools as well as the U of I campus. 
Perfect for young grad or post doc families especially as there are several great parks, public tennis courts and an indoor aquatic center all within walking distance of the apartments. We have been very happy living here and while we have had the occasional maintenance issue (we live in one of the older apartments) we have always gotten them resolved in a timely manner. I cannot commend the property manager Carol Macdonald enough for this - she has always ensured that all issues are quickly taken care of and is a truly positive presence at the CPM apartments at East Michigan Ave!

A year lease based but they will come to your apartment since November (till August)  to see your unit EVERYDAY WITHOUT NOTICE except sunday(Even twice a day). They say they will come until the unit is leased, but there is always empty unit ( yes, they will show your apt even if they have an empty unit).  Do you know what that means? your unit is not easy to be rent out, so they will come to your apt without notice  everyday for nine months!

The price is reasonable, but they need to fix everything before anyone else moves in

quiet and clean place, there are always cookies and a welcome attitude from management, at least 3 options of apts prices to choose. Not the newest buildings but compared to other in Urbana this place is ok. wish they had more strict rules for pet owners due to horrible smell in corridor. my apt had an old air cond that will not suffice in hot weather same goes for boiler for hot water. They will stick a notice on the door that they will ENTER apt anytime they want for whatever reason every week (they even did a radiation level check?!), w dirty shoes, when I multiple times requested them to wear booties.
