Chicken sandwich was so good! A really nice balance between sweet, savory, sour, and acid! The chicken and waffles was also so good! The waffle tastes similar to a fall inspired waffle would be with hints of clove, allspice, and nutmeg. Very nice texture fluffy inside with crisp outside. The breading of the chicken is what really makes the dishes stand out, with a nice pepper flavor in there. The music was fun stoner rock. We visited on a Sunday evening, wasn’t very busy two other tables but we had arrived at 7:30pm. I think it seems like more of a bar than restaurant aesthetically but judging on the items it should be more restaurant than bar!

Didn't have any food. Ryan, the bar tender was friendly.   He went out of his way to make you feel comfortable. Nice vibe. Great music. Comfortable layout. Clean. Good cocktails.

Canary is simply a gem of a place. The vibe is always so relaxed. The service is always great and the food never misses. My wife and I have had practically everything on the menu for brunch and dinner since they opened. The Canary Burger is one of the best in Portland. Not overly complicated. Just a good honest burger with excellent crispy bacon, well seasoned burger patties, and just enough condiments to get stuff on your face but not too much where you wear it. The fries are crispy as hell however the sweet potato fries are the highlight. The Chicken and Waffles are awesome and don't sleep on their beet salad or any of their specials. Great beer selection and really good cocktails which won't break your budget. This place is a must try.

Little neighborhood bar with truly excellent bar food. It was pretty quiet when we went in but drinks were good, staff was friendly, but otherwise that was about as much as I would say about it. Decent but not amazing patio, a sort of lounge seating area. Could be a decent place to grab some drinks.Food: 5/5

I got the spicy chicken sandwich with fries and it was delicious. I came here to work for an afternoon. Various seating options including couches, high tops, regular tables and bar seating. There’s also a pool table. Great customer service!  Parking: 3 spots with a van accessible option to the side of the building.

A perfectly cozy, contemporary cut-above the local dive bars which have their own charm, to be sure, Canary has a cool but not 'too cool for you' energy, a stellar menu, and a really great owner that seems to understand the locals have dozens of options but CHOOSE to come here. Bravo, Canary! Will be returning to get me some of that chicken & waffle love!

I ordered the Chicken and waffles and they were awesome! Chicken was juicy and the waffle was fresh! They offered an additional sauce that blew my mind! Very good food and friendly staff!  Vegetarian options: Burger substituting and salads

I don't know why, but the first time I went there a couple weeks ago I was met with a very grumpy bartender who didn't seem like he wanted to serve me and tossed silverware at me. I honestly don't know what I did if it was me but was treated very poorly. The bar itself and the food is amazing though. I guess we all have bad days.Food: 4/5

Was there a couple of times for live jazz. Haven't tried the food yet, but all the drinks have been great. Fun, cozy yet lively vibe. Great new addition to that area!Service: 5/5

Words cannot express the joy I felt biting into my fried Brussel sprouts, but I couldn’t resist trying the tomato confit bruschetta! And to make things even better I moved on to try the chicken and waffles, one bite of chicken melted in my mouth and I had no idea that the waffle was only going to continue that mouth watering explosion of taste flavors.. plus!!! The pink starburst cocktail was the best one I’ve had from any local bar around! The mandarin in the Brussels felt like little bursts of flavor! Man.. don’t hesitate.. it might have a small menu, but it has a mighty taste!
