Mother's Day gathering, two tables reserved. Food was perfect, though one item was forgotten, there was more than enough food so we didn't mind. Plenty of leftovers to bring home.Food: 5/5
Whenever I am in the neighborhood I have to stop by my favourite restaurant Canton Lounge for the 2 Lobster w/ ginger and scallion special $56. It was cooked to perfection as well. We also got the salt and pepper pork chops which the chef truly out did himself on this particular occasion because the taste was simply next level and made me thank god for being alive. Our meal was delightful and the service was impeccable. The staff here truly caters to your every need. I long for the day when I will return again. Until then I will live vicariously through the photos I have attached .
The place is clean, welcoming and has a restroom. The best way to get there is to take the subway, finding parking is very difficult. The people waiting on us were friendly and the complimentary tea was awesome. The food was authentic Chinese, though there are dishes on the menu which are more American Chinese. We had a Chinese friend with is, so the ordering was a breeze. The food was good, but they skimped on the fish in the fish dishes, one had to spend time looking for fish pieces. Based on the food we ordered, the prices were expensive and we walked out of of there feeling that it was not worth the money spent. Overall an OK place, if you are in the area.
set lunch foods are ok and price is reasonable. Quantity of dish is big. it would be even better if set lunch serve with daily soap. It had been 4 years since last visit, every time come to NYC sure will come here. The Chinese style lobster is perfect, for me is much better than the western style cooking. The steamed chicken not every time OK, sometimes would be too dry.
If I could give it a negative. I hate to give a business such a bad review but I would hate for someone to get a $300 bill for this garbage can of a meal!!!! The dinner we pre-ordered with abalone, scallops, 2 lobsters, duck and hainan chicken that was raw in the middle arrived in a giant stainless steel bowl. I can’t even. And then, they burned our food because between the lady in front and our horrible server they argued in Chinese about whether the fire should be on or not. The food burned in the bottom and it was cold on top.
It was a pleasant surprise to find this lovely place . It was just after 1.30pm, and we were starving. Staff are friendly and polite. They were on the look for any support or request needed such as soya sauce, knives, or hot sauce ! The food was amazingly cooked and delicious to enjoy !
Honestly not a single good dish here tonight, only bad and mediocre ones. - Teriyaki Sauce T Bone Steak: overly sweet and fried like a cutlet, which I didn't appreciate. Also had globs of fat - Teriyaki Lamb Chop: also overly sweet - Prawns with Walnuts: this tasted okay, but the batter on the prawns was a bit heavy and the walnuts were all bits and pieces, not whole ones - Salt Baked Chicken: the chicken was a mushy and soft consistency; didn't taste fresh at all - Mushrooms with E Fu Noodle: too sweet - Double Egg Fried Rice: this was fine - Vegetables: also fine, but honestly you can't mess this one up... - Fried Squab: expensive at $21 per squab, tiny AF, and not done well. There wasn't a lot of meat and it wasn't juicy at all. The service however was pretty good for a Chinatown establishment. After a 15% discount using a coupon we had, the bill was $180 after tip.
Canton Lounge is not just a food place, its an experience. We were shopping in Chinatown and walked into this place by luck. And were in for a treat. Food was yummy. We ordered fried rice, noodles etc. Prices were also in budget. The treat was the King Crabs that were brought out to pose. They do it only for one table a day. Some get-together party was happening and they ordered two of these. The interiors, decor - all felt real. Go for it!
Great local food...a REAL Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. You won't want to ever do local Chinese take-out again after experiencing a meal here!Food: 5/5
