The Doctor's and nurses here are good people and care about their patients, however that is where my compliments will end. Over the years this place has really gone down hill. From an administrative perspective, good luck ever getting through to these people and getting what you need from them. Earlier this year it took them two months to process some normal routine blood-work. Don't expect them to call you with results, you'll have to call them. After waiting a month and calling for my results I was informed that they lost my blood work and I would have to come in to get it taken again. In doing so they charged me for an additional office visit (~$200) and a second time for the lab work. All in all some simple blood work cost about $2 grand. Most recently I've been attempting to get copies of a recent bill I paid. I requested copies when the bill was paid and never received them. I've been on the phone for two weeks with various people all unable to complete this simple task. Calling the actual doctor office and selecting "billing" brings you to a voicemail. Leaving a message is fruitless as you will not receive a response. Unfortunately there aren't many options in the area for a general family practitioner.

I recently moved to the Albany area and went some time without a primary care physician. I picked this location because they were taking new patients and had the earliest availability. I saw Dr. Nazar who can come off as cold and uninterested, but I matched it with awkward humor. She wrote a prescription that required prior authorization and the pharmacy contacted me about it. I reached out to the insurance company who then reached out to the office. The insurance company told me it would only take a few hours once the office submitted the form, but they never did. That was on a Friday and I gave them until Tuesday to at least update me on sending the information in. No one called about it. I called on Tuesday evening and they "wrote a note". I came in Wednesday because I had a bad cold, I got there a half an hour earlier and when my appointment came. A woman came in asking to speak with Dr. Nazar about her daughter and they let her go back while I waited in the waiting area with receptionist who were slow to acknowledge me because they were having a side conversation that was much more important. I told the receptionist that I was not waiting since my appointment can't start on time. I left another "note" about needing the prior auth. and left. At 2:30pm right before I knew her and her nurse clocked out because I missed them last time when I called at 3, I calle back and the receptionist said she won't bother to leave a note because one is already there. I said listen this is not how healthcare works. I am tired of leaving notes and no one calling me back to say "hey we acknowledge your issue and are working on it, we should have it done by Friday" instead you are leaving notes that no one is looking at. I told her that if someone who knows anything about what is taking her so long does not call me back, I am going to sit my miserable ass in that office and make everyone miserable because you do not treat patients like that. All I wanted was for someone who has a hand in my healthcare to treat me with the same respect and urgency that they would want from their providers and the team who assists them. They couldn't do that. I will be switching to an Albany Med doctor.

Ever felt misjudged by a doctor? Or treated unfairly? If your like me, "open, and honest," and expect doctors like "Dr. Kim, or nurses like "Darlene" to treat a person fairly, like, as if they took an oath to "care for you". you won't get that from those 2, (or some of the other staff.)This place uses "patient profiling", and if they decide your not their type, you get minimized, shut down, scolded, and out right lied too. Patient profiling is the practice of regarding particular patients as more likely to have certain behaviors or illnesses based on their appearance, race, gender, financial status, or other observable characteristics. Profiling disproportionately impacts patients with chronic pain, mental illness, the uninsured, and patients of color. Here is a story similar to mine online: “I injured my back at work. I couldn’t get time off, so my family doc prescribed pain meds so I could get through the day and Xanax for sleep. I returned every six months for two years and he always accused me of taking more than I was prescribed. He got progressively more rude and angry. I brought my wife with me to see if I was imagining it. She witnessed it too, so we searched for another doctor." The story goes on... but the point is: Don't go here It's terrible 4 months ago, I broke my back, I had a giant egg on my head, and I'm in physical therapy for whatever happened to my neck. At the time I was prescribed Saboxone. If your prescribed Saboxone, bring the facts with you, because it's plain ignorance to think what some doctors think! Dr. Kim literally said to me "it's the cure to heroin, no" Actually, I wasn't prescribed it for that reason. But no one cared. I fell down the stairs and broke my back, because of a script that labels a person a junkie,I didn't get any pain meds, I couldn't sleep for months, and when I returned visits about the sleep, I was told I never said that?, I tried all their remedies, it didn't work, so, I got threatened, that if I kept complaining it was implied I wouldn't get my adderol. It's only 20mg extended?? Over the months, I had severe anxiety, panic attacks, sleepless nights, all because of patient profiling, and no trust, . Listen to me DO NOT GO TO CAPITAL REGION FAMILY HEALTH!
