I think Cardinal Self Storage needs to have some customer service training. I called this location and the south Durham location earlier just to inquire about renting a unit and using the truck, both people seemed bothered by my call. I went with another facility.

They were very polite- as long as they were getting our rent money. The day we were moving out, my friend asked if there was a restroom available in the office. It was after closing (it was about 6:15; they close at 6:00, but manager was still in the office). Figured should could go to the restaurant down the street if necessary but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? Instead of a polite "sorry, the office is closed," the manager cursed her out for a few minutes. I heard it from the other side of the facility- screaming curses all over the place. My friend maintained her cool and came back to help us load our truck. Then, when at 6:30 another car needed to get out, we realized our truck (which was near the exit) didn't leave quite enough room for them to get around. We apologized to them and asked if they wanted to wait on us to move things, or one of us to run around and manually open the entrance with the code so they could exit that way. They were very nice and just drove around to exit through the entrance, but before anyone could get there to help, the manager was screaming curses at us through the exit gate about how she "is not your F---king moving agent" and "those f---ing people need to ***** ***** ****," that we are not welcome back ever (not that we ever would give them business again). My husband went over to ask her (very calmly, he is a good mediator) what she wanted us to do with our things, but she did not give him a chance to say anything because she was screaming so much. When one other person drove up a few minutes later to help us load, she just screamed "these f-----ing people!" We have always paid on time, maintained their truck and left it with a full tank when we borrowed it to move in, and have stopped and chatted with them on several occasions when they were out walking their dogs, etc. I guess it is all about the money- and none of it about the customer service. Several people were there, and I can guarantee they have lost some would-be future customers. The facility is nice, but not worth the beratement. Also, they told my husband that they usually charge for the use of the truck. They let him use it for free (I forget what reason they gave, this was several months ago) so he thought he was getting a real deal, until I pointed out that on the side of the truck it said "free" to use to move items to your storage facility. But we didn't end up paying for it, no harm and no big deal... just another factor in the saga. The facility is nice, but this facility's managers are duplicitous at best. Take your business elsewhere.

Terrible Experience. Manager dropped a few F-bombs under breath. Tried to be very aggre-able and calm to resolve problem and offered a number of solutions. None were greeted with accommodation or service. Not respectful or professional.
