Let me tell you about my new "Best Friend".

On a recent vacation to North Myrtle Beach, SC, I was chatting with one of my girl friends about selling my engagement ring again from my previous marriage. After all, the ring had been appraised for $100,000.00 and who couldn't use that kind of money.

She told me she too had sold her diamond and was very pleased with the person she dealt with. His name was Chris at Carolina Diamond Buyers and he explained everything to her, how the whole process works and he gave her a good price too.

So I gave Chris a call and we met at his office which is located inside of the Gold Buying building. The office was a bit plain, but Chris explained that by him not having a fancy office and a lot of overhead, there is no excess he has to pass on to the customer.

Chris was very professional as he inspected my 8ct. diamond, with all kinds of laboratory tools. Once he did a thorough going over of my diamond, he explained to me that my appraisal was bogus for value. I was pretty upset, and thinking what's his game. But he then educated me on why the appraisal was so high and why I hadn't been able to sell it in the past. It made very good sense, so I asked him how much then can I get for it? He said he would buy the diamond for $40,000.00 and his cut was 10% off the top.

Chris explained, money of that amount was not kept in the office;  it would take 24 to 48 hours for the money to be available. He provided me with reference of people who had bought from him (in large sums as these); after I made some calls, I was ready to close the deal. 

There was paper work to sign for the transaction to be insured, we shook hands and then I left him with my diamond to await his call for my money. There was a little apprehension, just because of stories you hear about switching or stones "getting lost", but that wasn't the case here. Chris called me the very next afternoon to inform me he had a cashier's check for $36,000.00; we met and I picked up my check and thanked him very much.

My experience with Chris leave no doubt that if I ever have another diamond to sell, Chris is the only person I will trust to sell it too.
