We went to surprise my mother for the safari. We didn't do much research about what was included on the safari, but we were expecting typical African animals. It turned out to be a lot of Asian goats/deer, donkeys, etc, but we still had fun on the safari. We were a little concerned because many of the exhibits were dirty/stunk (like a few days worth of poo), animals were sleeping on concrete, and animals looked heavily dirty/had winter coat still on. Now obviously, wild animals are going to be dirty, but for the price we paid thinking it was an animal reserve, as stated, we thought the animals would be better maintained. Many of the water bowls also were bone dry, and the temp today was low 90's. We had fun seeing the animals and reading the exhibit facts, but it was sad to see the animals cooped up in small exhibits with no water. We also were concerned because many animals had signs of stress/anxiety like missing feathers etc.

This place sucks. What a rip off. $20 per adults and you pretty much see all the animals in 30 minutes. Cages are small, and the safari ride which is charge separately is small too. If you want a safari go to Virginia, if you want a zoo for its value go to Baltimore. I want a refund!!! Whoever gives this place a 5 doesn't go out much.

I rate it with three stars because experience was not as I expected, the safari ride was close during my visit and few exhibits were empty. But overall it was a nice place and kids still had fun feeding the goats. Will try again to visit to do the safari ride, also staff suggested that Saturdays are the best day to visit.

I wish we had visited sooner. We always passed by on our way north but it looks so small from the front. I took my daughters today and had a blast. Its like a mix between the national zoo downtown and the land of little horses in Gettysburg. We did the safari and it was a great time. My 4 year old and 17 year old daughters both had a great time. Will definatly go back!

Admission price is fair but the additional cost to take the Safari Tour is too high. The regular zoo tour has little to offer, paths are poorly marked. If you want a map you can get one for $3. Once again we could not get anything hot to eat at the Cafe because of water and electric issues. Our sodas were served with a cup of ice because they could not keep them cold. Whomever manages the zoo needs to look into getting some Federal funds to do some renovations.
