My wife and I live in a Columbia, Maryland townhouse. Having been built in 1982, the structure is reaching middle age and requires frequent maintenance. That includes occasional electrical work. I needed someone to fix our attic fan. I connected with Certified Electrical Technologies via Amazon Local. This was my first experience working with them and it was extremely positive. I was able to schedule the appointment via email, which is convenient for me given I'm deaf. The service person arrived exactly on time on 24 April 2015. He was friendly, clean, and got right to work. He replaced the motor in my attic fan in about 20 minutes. He had the motor in stock in his truck, which meant the issue could be addressed in one visit. Their fees were reasonable and their advice sound. I was impressed and will definitely keep this firm in mind for future work, as they earned my trust. This was my best experience with a home repair contractor ever!

CET is awesome. What is so great about CET is the customer experience and promptness in electrical service. I moved houses a few years ago and when I finally got around to updating the security systems I called CET in Silver Spring. We were very happy with the professionals that came over for an estimate. They viewed the whole premises and suggested the ideal location for the installation of our new security system. CET also updated my security lights with motion sensors for the entire perimeter of my home. Moreover they also built a unique feature to view the security videos from your smart phone though an app. The app is perfect for checking on pets to make sure they aren’t destroying the house while we are out to dinner or for burglars too. Thinking of doing some other light modifications in my home soon as well, so might see you guys sooner than later, Thanks again!

I live in Silver Spring, MD. and was in need of an electrician to perform some basic repairs and discuss installing lighting in my home. I found Certified Electrical Technologies with a Google search and was impressed with the large number of positive reviews that CET has. I also liked that they are located in Silver Spring and have been here since 1979 ! I had a terrific experience throughout the entire process. From the initial contact where they asked lots of questions to the follow-up call I received after the job, it was very professional. The tech, David was not only very good at doing the electrical work, but he was very personable and let me know exactly what he was doing at all times. I consider myself very picky and normally cringe at the thought of having someone come to my house for a repair, but I could not be more pleased with the service from CET. David told me that CET has offices throughout the area and I would highly recommend CET for any electrical job. I have already scheduled them to come back to install recessed lighting in my kitchen.

We first hired CET through our home warranty service when our dishwasher broke down a few years ago. We were very pleased with CET because while another electrician was pushing us hard to re-wire our entire house from aluminum to copper wiring, CET suggested a more cost-effective solution of using AlumiConn wire connectors (which is approved by the Consumer Products Safety Commission). Since then, we have hired CET to do more work around the house, including rewiring a few rooms and adding new receptacles and switches. While we are handy enough to do some of the work ourselves, it’s a lot safer to have a licensed electrician do the more complicated work. In the three projects we hired CET to do in our Silver Spring home, our electrician, David, was very keen on safety and knowledgeable of the electrical code. Before starting the work, we briefly went over the scope to make sure we had a mutual understanding of what we wanted. There were a few things that the electrician did not do, but that was because they were not in accordance with the electrical code; some of the work he said that he wouldn't do but that if we really wanted to, we could do ourselves (such as install a dimmer switch to control a floor lamp receptacle, or use dimmable LEDs on traditional non-LED dimmers). There were some other things we wanted but that our electrician strongly discouraged, such as wiring a plug-in Ikea wall lamp into a fixed wall receptacle. Our electrician also looked at some of the work that I had done myself, and instead of insisting that we hire CET to do the work, he gave me some suggestions on how the work could be made safer or more simply, which was nice. It’s very refreshing when a contractor takes of his “salesman hat” and offers tips for DIY’ers.
