Cheeseboard is a great co-op business in the East Bay, which means it's employee owned. They operate a bakery & cafe next door (closed on Sundays), which has delicious items prepared fresh daily. My favorite is their Pecan Roll topped with a yummy hot chocolate drink. The cheese counter allows you try any of their local, seasonal artisan cheeses. You'll find that the items in the shop including the cheeses are very affordable, much better than a lot Bay Area stores. I've taken a few cheeses back home to Chicago when traveling and they are always appreciated. Quality and local ingredients are solid. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out.

Oh, wow... are you up for having some cheese, bread and wine tonight? Look no further! They have an insane selection of cheeses. Not to mention the yummy bread. We ran into this place by chance, when we were looking for something else around the corner. The lines were long, but the sight of all those cheeses... we just had to see/try it for ourselves. The store is not that big and there's quite a bit of employees that will help you with your cheese selection (and one person is at the register). The bread is on your own (they make it and bake it, you choose and pick), so no need to wait in line to get some. Tip: Try the Rosemary Olive Oil Bread, Cheese Roll and Olive Foccacia. As for the cheese, we love goat cheeses, but that's up to you (see the cheese board in the store and then try to decide). :) You can also buy the Cheese Board pizza here (half of it or a whole one). It's light-baked so you'll have do the last step at home. But it'll probably be faster than waiting in line for one next door. They also come in gluten free versions.

A Berkeley institution, and for good reason! Their offerings are hard to beat,but parking is challenging. It is also a good location where one can view a sampling of the myriad denizens that make up this Unique City

*Love* this place. Haven't found better quality, variety, vibe and proficiency anywhere outside France. When in Berkeley, you MUST go! They have real bread and coffee too..

I love the great baking smell in the moring,the prices very good,you feel the people working there like a family and they kind .
