THAILAND via Eat the World Los Angeles - The restaurant now takes the name from the northern city of Chiang Rai, as seen colorfully painted on the interior wall. At the beginning of 2022 when the owner shift happened, much of the menu stayed the same to appease the longtime customers of this neighborhood favorite, but a little corner evolved called "Chiang Rai Local Food" that should be the focus of diners that want to try more unique options.
No wonder this place just came up as a Michelin suggested spot in Long Beach. One of the few places in Los Angeles, including very few spots in Thai town that reminds me of northern Thailand food. Every dish spectacular the atmosphere is amazing and they’re always busy. Do not miss out on some of the best Thai food outside of Thailand.
The Boat Noodle Soup with Wagyu Beef, meatballs, and greens were delicious. The fried wontons with cream cheese and real crab were decadent. We chose tofu as our protein to accompany our spicy basil eggplant and were very happy with our choice. We ended our meal on a high note with sticky rice with mango and coconut sauce, so yummy!
Although seating is usually prompt, it's best to remain patient while ordering due to the limited staff, who are always amicable. It's worth noting that the restaurant allows patrons to bring their own wine. Notable menu items include the delectable midnight chicken w/ yellow curry, soft shell crab curry, Thai fried rice, and steamed branzino. The papaya salad is superb, for those who are not afraid of spicy food. The roti, while scrumptious, is slightly greasy.
The food did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. They were a little short staffed but the service was still good. Will definitely come here again.
I came here for lunch and ordered the Khao soi with chicken. It was a large portion and delicious. I got medium spicy, and didn't find it to as spicy as other Thai restaurants medium. The service was great, and my food came promptly. It is also very cute inside. Definitely recommend.
Very nice store. All the foods taste delicious. My favorite dishes are the fresh oysters and Khao Soi. Fast and friendly service. Will come back!
Tasty food. They were doing the lunch deal all day on Sunday today so it was a super deal. Very low waste too. We eat here often. Vegetarian options: Substitute tofu or vegetables for almost anything
No wonder this restaurant was at the bottom of yelp. Bad service , food isn’t tasty and I eat at Thai places all over so cal. Waitress argued with me that rice wasn’t included which it was on the bottom left inside menu. She later apologized said she was wrong etc.
I’m a big fan of Thai food but this place was over my expectations. One of the best Thai food in LA. All spices they use were the freshest, remind me taste of the food deep in Thailand.
