A friend of mine introduced me to this place. Welcoming and friendly staff. The dishes are all super tasty and it feels like you are eating at your relatives house.Food: 5/5
This place was the highlight of my vacation . The food was amazing!! And I was eating at Ramsay's kitchen earlier this week, and I would take this place hands down. If you're in the Long Beach area, you need to stop by.Food: 5/5
Always feels like I'm eating at an Auntie's kitchen whenever I dine here. Sophy and her staff are very welcoming and friendly, reflecting Khmer hospitality. I really enjoy the extensive menu, you can find every Khmer dish you grew up eating here! Khmer food is a fusion of various Southeast Asian flavors, which is why you will find some familiar Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes. This Long Beach staple has been part of the Cambodia Town for ages. Come out and support, you won't be disappointed! :- Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to enter the restaurant from the parking lot.
Delicious! Had to make a stop here while in Long Beach. A Cambodian friend suggested it and it did not disappoint! We ordered beef satay, sour soup w fish, sautéed frog legs and stir fry watercress - a well rounded family dinner! The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and the environment quiet and relaxed. Def recommend!Dine in: Yes
Been going to here with my family for years when I lived/visited California! They have some great Cambodian food. Traditionally I get Phnom Penh noodles, but they have other great options as well at about $15-$20 per dish. They make some of my favorite crispy squid. Really love the salt and pepper sauce. The squid is chunky and chewy. I do think they should replace some of the fried onions with more squid however, and also coat the squid a bit more as the breading kept falling off. Beef jerky is very savory and fresh. Really love it! One of our classic dishes we order. There salmon salad was something new I tried which was very delicious! There is marinated salmon that is refreshing. The salmon skin is crunchy. The vegetables are fresh. Definitely recommend. Only thing I would recommend is to sharpen up the anesthetics a bit as the building looks a bit outdated and the paint could use some touch up.
Never been to Sophy's and it won't be my last. Before I continue I must say that this place has the slowest service I ever encountered in the Los Angeles metro area. They make it up with a good attitude and Thai/Cambodian food to die for. I ordered #41 salt and pepper shrimp wow. It's served crispy deep fried IE. You can eat everything, head, fins and it is really amazing. Secondly we had so much left over as their portions are massive. Leftovers covered next evenings dinner for boot my wife and I. Highest recommendation if you have a fev hours to hang around.... I spent $140 for 5 guests +20%tip a marvelous deal me thinks. Peter
If you wanna try Cambodian food, this can be your go to place, they have from traditional dishes to street food type. Been here several times with friends when are in Long Beach. The food are consistently and rich in flavor. The staff are friendly, you can ask for their recommendations in case you don’t know what to order. They have their own parking lots on the back, you can also park on the street.
Sophy's been around forever and my Cambodian friends have all been here for its authentic food. $16 for each of the entrees we ordered seemed reasonably priced. -Beef lol lak: thin strips of beef was semi-tender. Loved the sauce that was on it. Good w rice. -Banh Cheo Asian crepes: crepe w chicken and bean sprouts self-wrapped inside lettuce and various herbs w a peanut garlic sauce. This was more delicious than ones I've tried at some Vietnamese restaurants. I think it was supposed to have shrimp but it was 95% chicken.... Love the banana wrapped sticky rice desserts that they had available at the cash register. We were told you could freeze and reheat them too. Bought grilled banana, jackfruit, and mung bean sticky rice.
The best Cambodian food in Long Beach. Everything was amazingly delicious and authentic. You have to get the beef skewer and prahok ktis. They was out of this world. Must try!!!
The food tastes fine, pretty strong flavour and bit too salty for me. I would have enjoyed the food if I didn't find a hair in the rice and the server just took the hair away and replaced with another plate. I lost my appetite after seeing the hair. The server didn't not even bother to say they were sorry for the hair nor replace the rice. So if you don't care about food safety then feel free to come and try. But if you do, I don't suggest this place.
