About

Authentic Mexican cuisine featuring Mexican BBQ.

Story

By 1994 after some years in the USA, we felt (with all due respect) that good and authenticMexican food was missing from most Mexican restaurants at the time. If we wanted to eatgood Mexican food, we had to travel far from the Huntington area, so we decided to open avery small restaurant in East Northport, The lil Caboose. In 1995, The lil Caboose, was awarded as one of “The Top Ten Restaurants Of LongIsland”, by Newsday. By the end of 1996, with the support of our clientele, we opened theOaxaca restaurant in Huntington village, where we once again found ourselves the happy recipients of an award, this time as one of Newsday’s “The Best Top Ten List Of 1997.”We settled in Huntington with Oaxaca for ten years, enjoying customers from all over Long Island. Our local Huntington clientele was growing in great numbers, so we felt it was timeto expand. During this time, school teachers invited us to give important lectures in their schools on Mexican food and culture. We really enjoyed sharing our knowledgewith the community. For these main reasons, we decided to open Quetzalcoatl, our fullscale restaurant, where we offer a richer variety of Mexican dishes and a full bar to allowguests to sample delicious Mexican cocktails prepared the proper way.

The name Quetzalcoatl was chosen with much thought to its meaning and philosophy. Taken from pre-Hispanic history and culture, the idea of “serving food for spirit” is at the soulof our business. The native Mexican philosophy of respect for food/body combined withgratitude in all activities is part of our daily life. Since “we are what we think and what we eat”we serve food for the soul, from the heart of Mexico!Buen apetito and muchas gracias!Alex & Maria

The food was good but they took forever to bring it out, to the point that we just had it to go because we where so full with chips and salsa. The pitcher of patron margarita was around $70, we weren't told the price when we asked, our waiter said it was a better deal so we went for it (bad decision, always ask for the price). Flavorwise It was good but it was just for two so we didn't finish the pitcher, might work for a larger group, but for me I rather buy a bottle of Patron for that price!!

Pretty good Mexican food. It was very cold when we went and the heat didn't work too well, so we were kind of chilli. After a pitcher of booze we didn't really care.

Love this place. Great margaritas. The food is so fresh. Love the outdoor seating in the summer. Easy to find a parking spot too.

We have been going to Chichimecas for several years now. The service is always top notch. The menu has been changed up slightly (smaller menu but still a lot on it) but Food is excellent and the portions sizes are very good as before. Service has always been Excellent or very good at worst case. Prices are very fair. The place is not huge but you can normally get a party of 4-6 people in with no problem unless they are really busy. Larger parties I would strongly recommend reservation. This is a must go if in or near Farmingdale. I would recommend even if out of the area, I personally am willing to drive a distance for a good restaurant, This is one of them. I would highly recommend this place. The will have live music on Friday and Saturday and another night I believe, and It is really great to just sit relax with a drink of your choice and enjoy it! My mother is always serenaded by Alex. She loves him singing and she tries to sing along even though she does not know Spanish or very much English for that matter. He is so kind to her, it is nice to see a place that you feel like you are with friends and family! It is in an older style building from Village of Farmingdale but it is clean and decent inside and out. Inside it is decorated with old style Mexican items and it is like being in a small Mexican village having a meal.
