Story

Established in 1966, Chip's family restaurants create a warm, friendly atmosphere with a feeling of when you walk through our doors that you've known us for years. We believe in quality food and excellent service. Everything is home made and our pancakes are the lightest you will ever taste. There is something for everyone's appetite including healthy options and a gluten free menu. We offer our breakfast menu from sunrise to sunset, and our lunch and dinners include everything from soups and salads to delicious paninis and three course dinners. We are community oriented and believe in giving back to local charities and organizations.

Incredible breakfast spot in the area. First visit, and it's an INSTANT favorite for the menu, quality, atmosphere and friendliness. I had the whole wheat banana nut pancakes and sausage, wife had the California skillet and both were amazing! Joseph was our server and he was beyond personable and exceptional! 5 stars for certain!!! See you again on our next visit to Yale Rep.

While I do not like to trash a business, I do want to be honest. 
My wife, and I have had a nice dinner at a steak house for less. The wife wanted a blueberry pancake, the best option seemed to be the 2+2+2+2. Can you believe that blueberries are an "add-on" are you kidding me?!  There was few blueberries actually IN the pancakes. 50% were on top. There was enough to at least say they did not skimp. As far as the wife was concerned we had better pancakes at Denny's (at a much better price, and bigger too). Huh? This place is supposed to be the "king" of pancakes. Lesson learned:  Don't order pancakes from a self proclaimed pancake expert. Owner was heard laughing all the way to the bank! We sat down right away no wait. Awesome. ordered coffee, tea, and 2 orange juices which came out swiftly. While looking over the menu after 10 minutes or so we had to ask some one to provide a server to order as ours seemed to vanish!  My wife loves her tea, and the tea pot provided 1 cup only. I ordered the standard eggs, toast, sausage, home fries. I must say.. My eggs over medium were perfect, and the homes fries were great. I had to ask for butter for my dry toast as none was provided.  
The sausages were on par for standard Banquet brand. While paying the bill at the end the cashier was border line rude! No "how was everything", or even "thank you, have a nice day". For me.... now I remember why it has been so long since I have been here. Bottom line... Service under par, Food on par, price.... well you be the judge!

My kids favorite place to eat! They really do live up to their motto of Best Pancake in CT! Kids menu also offer a good options and reasonably priced. They recently update their Dinner Menu. They add Chicken Masala in the new menu. It is really good! Comfy booths as well.

Even with the dozens of varieties of pancakes already on the menu, including create your own, and seasonal specials,  they just ran a contest for customers to create a new pancake!  Their omelettes are wonderful, made either fluffy or diner style, and then there's the whole rest of the menu.  Everything is farm fresh and much is locally grown.  Flavors are first rate, and service is usually as good as the food.

The restaurant was crowded but it didn't take long for us to be seated. The staff seems to have it down to a science.  With many people waiting we were seated within 10 minutes.  Breakfast was delicious! Waitress was pleasant and accommodating.
