Terrible governance. Chris Abele allows his highway department to dump massive amounts of toxic and highly-reactive salt allover the county roads and highways. This issue of excessive and in most cases, unwarranted salting, is really starting to destroy the rivers, streams, as well as lake Michigan. In addition to being a problem for the environment, it is a problem for the people drinking the lake's water- that means you! You are also hit in the pocketbook by these idiotic practices, they charge you to misapply the salt and for the salt itself thereby destroying personal property, the environment, and public property then turn around and charge you again to rebuild the destroyed roads-nice. Maybe if Abele would get this misdirected effort under control he would have a little more money to spend on important county services like parks and public safety. Shame, shame, shame!!
