What We Believe (Our Statement of Faith)
The Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and therefore our rule in faith and life
That the Godhead consists of three Persons of one Substance - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit
God the Father is the One True God; and is an Infinite, Sovereign, and Holy Being
That all men have an eternal destiny – one with God or one without God
That all men are sinful beings by nature and therefore separated from God
Our sin nature precludes us from freely choosing to seek, follow, and serve God
God made eternity with Him possible through the person, work, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ
Salvation is effectuated by faith alone in Jesus Christ, and is a merciful gift from God
God not only provides eternal salvation; but redeems, restores, and transforms our sinful, broken lives through His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit
We are called to live in fellowship with one another through the gathering and assembling of believers – commonly known as the church
God transforms and sets us apart - for good works and to enjoy Him
We enjoy Him most fully when we please Him
We please Him by living lives of obedience and repentance, by impacting others through the power of the Holy Spirit, and by sharing the Gospel
God has appointed various means of grace by which we grow in our faith and daily walk with Christ: Prayer, The Word, and the Sacraments
Jesus Christ will return one day, the specific timing of His return is unknown, but we should live our lives as if His return is imminent
What We Consider To Be Our Purpose (Our Mission)
Faithfulness to the Word:
To preserve, honor, and teach the Word of God; consistent with our Doctrinal Statement and Reformed/Covenantal traditions
Leadership:
To elect godly, faithful men as elders and deacons - to lead, govern and shepherd
Discipleship:
To effectively equip and encourage our members to become authentic and vibrant
disciples of Christ
Worship:
To worship corporately on a weekly basis in a manner that is joyful and reverent, historical and contemporary, emphasizing both the presence and greatness of God
Sharing the Gospel:
To actively share the good news of the Gospel with those within our sphere of influence, through short term mission trips, and by supporting full time missionaries with whom we have been providentially connected
Welcoming Culture:
To create a warm and welcoming atmosphere during our Sunday corporate worship and all gatherings; for first time guests, frequent visitors, and members - without regard to outward appearance, lifestyle, socioeconomic background, race or ethnicity, or degree of spiritual maturity
Meet Spiritual and Material Needs:
To assimilate the gifts and resources of our body and proactively and sacrificially meet the diverse spiritual and material needs of our particular body, our community, and beyond our region as specific needs are made known.
Accountability and Transparency:
To live transparently before, and in submission to: one another, our elected leaders, and ultimately our Lord Jesus Christ
Depth and Longevity in Relationships:
To go through life together - through youth and old age, laughter and tears, accomplishments and failures, encouragements and offenses – growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ until the day of His return
Supporters of our Denomination:
To serve and support the work of Providence Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) at-large
to add Christ Covenant Presbyterian map to your website;
