Never a problem with Citizen's/Charter One. Always helpful and knowledgeable. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I live in Indiana and the closest branch/ATM is 1 1/2 hrs. away.

DO NOT BANK WITH CHARTER ONE WORST BANK EVER! STRAIGHT UP MONEYSUCKERS! I'm still in the process of trying to close my account with them. I went in to close my account to go to another bank. The people took my entire lunch hour to do it and then some. Come to find out they were having problems closing it because all my transactions hadn't cleared. So I left enough money in my account for the remaining transactions to go through and was told that they would close the account and I wouldn't have to come back to the branch. A week later I received a notice in the mail saying that I had overdrafts of 157 dollars. So I thought to myself how do you overdraft an account that is supposed to be closed? I called up to the bank and they told me that another transaction had slipped through and that as long as I came up and paid it the fees would be erased. So I went up to the bank and drove the drive through paying the remaining amount on the balance. The girl notified me again that all the fees would be taken care of and my account would be closed. A few more days go by and I receive another overdraft notice so at this point I'm thinking ok no biggie I just took care of that. and then another one comes. So I call customer service because it was after hours and they tell me not to worry that I just need to go into the bank and have the person that placed the hold on my account take it off in order to be able to close it. So now I'm thinking ok well maybe they are still having computer issues and cant close my account. The next day I go into the bank and they tell me that they cant close my account because I have 104.99 in overdraft fees accrued. So I asked them kindly to remove them because it was a misunderstanding. I agreed to pay the overdraft because I do feel it was my fault . I bought stuff so yea I deserve the overdraft charge. However, I got charged an additional 6.99 for every day that my empty account was in the negative. I understand in a typical situation where someone knows there account is open how this would be justified but I thought mine was closed. Why would I come in put money in a closed account? This is completely unfair. They are willing to remove the 35 dollar overdraft fee but are still making me pay the 6.99 charges accrued each day. My phone number on file was a bad one I never thought to change it with my bank when I changed my number. I did receive their letters and contacted them. They assured me every time I contacted them that my account would be closed without problems. I don't feel its fair or like this bank is one to bank with. They have done similar things to my family and I should have listened when they told me to close my account sooner. I've tried to contact supervisors they don't seem to care. I asked to speak with the owner and they stated they were owned by the bank of scottland. I guess that's who I'm calling next!
