Incorporated in 2002, Goleta is a young city with nearly 30,000 residents. Also known as the "good land", Goleta is a great place to live, play and work.

Story

The City of Goleta incorporated in February 2002 and includes an area of 26.4 square miles adjacent to Isla Vista and the Santa Barbara Airport. (An exact map of our footprint can be found on the website at www.cityofgoleta.org.)

Goleta is a general law city with a Council-Manager form of governance. The City Council has five members who serve four-year terms. The mayor is elected by the Council annually to serve a one-year term. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the City and reports to the Council. A City Attorney reports directly to the Council.

City Council meetings are broadcast live on Goleta Channel 19 on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:30pm* and 6:00pm. Meetings are re-broadcast on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:00am and 5:00pm. They may be played at other times as space permits. *Check City Council Agendas to see if afternoon sessions are scheduled.

Planning Commission meetings are broadcast live on Goleta Channel 19 on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:00pm. Meetings are rebroadcast on Goleta Channel 19 on Tuesdays and Sundays at 10:00am and 5:00pm.

Design Review Board meetings are broadcast live on Goleta Channel 19 on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 3:00pm. Meetings are re-broadcast on Goleta Channel 19 on Thursdays and Fridays at 10:00am and 5:00pm.
