Clausen Funeral Home is dedicated to serving south-central South Dakota and north-central Nebraska with quality, excellence and dignity.
Clausen Funeral Home came into existence through the visions of one man - Henry Clausen. Henry moved to the Burke area in 1927 and purchased the former Jeager Funeral Home. At the time there were three funeral homes operating in the town of Burke. Survival through-out the 1930's was difficult, but when all was said and done, Henry was operating the only funeral home in Burke. Cam and Midge Clausen came into the picture in the mid 1940's, along with Cam's brother Glen. The Clausen's grew and changed along with the communities they served. Moving to the present location in 1954, there was a need for additional space and an upgrade in the facilities. In 1992, Michael Karbo joined the staff as a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota. In 1993, construction began on an additional office, as well as remodeling most of the existing funeral home to comply with the ever changing laws and regulations. In 2003 we started construction on the remaining areas of the funeral home, completing this phase in May of 2003. This completed a total restoration of the facilities.
