The CIC is not located here. Nor is any Visitor Center. It is located up in Paradise, further East on the same Hwy 706/ Parks Hwy. This location is only maintenance and administrative offices. It offers no public services.

All the Rangers were knowledgeable and extremely helpful. It's the place to get your climbing permits

I took my family here on a free day, it was well worth the trip. Plenty of parking, and stunning views from the center. Inside is a warm sitting area, small cafeteria, and upstairs a gift shop and museum style exhibit about the mountain and local ecosystem. From the second floor you can use the telescopes to look up the mountain. It's accessible but the elevator was not working on our visit. From the center you can hike trails, snowshoe (rentals available) and ski or snowboard if you don't mind a hike up. Chains are required, not necessarily used, to drive past Longmire, they inspect vehicles to make sure you're prepared. Gate closes at 5pm.
