Story

Cline-Holder Electric Supply, Inc. was established in 1970,
specializing in the sale and installation of heating and air conditioning equipment. In 1970, Cline-Holder secured a contract with a local heater manufacturer, to purchase all of their "B" grade units. These units were either scratched, dented, or mislabeled but were in perfect working order. The contract forced Cline-Holder to expand into a new facility and by 1972 the business had experienced remarkable growth. Over the next few years, Cline-Holder quickly evolved into selling new electrical wholesale products to include wiring devices, wire, light fixtures, electrical fittings, conduit and switch gear.

Over the next ten years, Cline-Holder became an established and well-respected electrical distributor. It was during this time that they were able to acquire more electrical wholesale distribution product lines to better serve their customers. This progression helped to make them a full line electrical distributor specializing in residential and light commercial markets. Their sales region quickly expanded beyond Northeast Tennessee to Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

In 1984 Cline-Holder built its 34,000 sq. ft. facility complete with offices, lighting showroom, retail counter sales and warehouse space. The expansion allowed CHE to increase their product offerings to commercial and industrial electrical, mining, and water treatment markets. CHE has supplied materials for projects outside their traditional service area in Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, Alabama, and most recently supplying control equipment to the new Tesla plant in California. CHEs major distribution manufacturing partnerships are with Siemens, Cutler-Hammer, Phillips, Lithonia, Thomas and Betts, Bussman Fuse, Hoffman Enclosures, Panduit Devices, OZ Gedney, Appleton, Milwaukee Tools, Rigid Tools, Greenlee, TPI Corp, Capitol
Lighting, Kitchler Lighting, and Regency Manufacturing.

In 2015 Cline-Holder Electric Supply and Virginia Electric Supply Group of Companies merged to create one of the largest Electrical and Industrial Supply networks in the region. Cline-Holder Electric Supply has since added a new and updated lighting showroom to display the latest in residential lighting. We have also upgraded our computer software program that will allow us to keep up to the moment inventory numbers, sales and customer information that will better help us serve our customers. We are currently focused on improving the total customer experience from the time you walk in, until the time your project is complete.
