The food has improved tremendously over the last year. I know it doesn't get nearly enough credit for how awesome it is. The wait staff rocks! It's 100% comfort food, casual environment old-school-diner-style. So retro. If you haven't eaten here, you need to! Totally addicted to the coconut cream pie! I didn't even know lemon cheesecake was a thing.
Service was good although they were busy like most restaurants. The salad was super small for the price so I went ahead and returned it. It's not a side salad either it's a main salad and I am not kidding it was literally like a cup and a half of ingredients. The coffee is pretty weak if you're looking for a good cup of coffee with your breakfast you may want to tell the server to make a strong pot before bringing you coffee which our server did. Pretty good serving size with everything else.
The cinnamon bun French toast was pretty burnt. Pretty much only enjoyed the lemonade and eggs. Best part of this was how sweet the waitress was. Absolutely adored her
A nice hit of nostalgia nice tasty greasy spoon kind of food. They serve super tasty beyond burgers and the pies are maybe with vegetable shortening so there are quite a few vegan/vegetarian options.
This is a place my 83 year old mother took me for breakfast with her aging dementia life partner. My mom and her partner have been here many times. The people at the restaurant were very helpful with them when they had problems getting out of the booth, and they were right there on the door when we came in and when we left. They also were very friendly and helpful with aiding us with two walkers. The food is DELICIOUS. The omelet with the tomatoes, spinach and cheese was amazing. Their honey bran muffins are like little Bundt cakes that almost drip with honey and they are SO delicious. I bought all that they had after we finished our breakfast they only had 2 left after the breakfast rush and we weren't going to wait 30 minutes for more, but they would have been worth waiting for more!. The cook presented a plate with perfectly cooked hash browns. I couldn't stop eating them. I would definitely return, matter of fact, we did. If I'm back in Tuscon again, Coco's Bakery is on my list to eat at. I say go there RIGHT NOW and get a honey bran muffin... You won't regret it! ADDITIONAL REVIEW please read to end: We went to Cocoa's for Thanksgiving dinner 2022. We arrived at 2pm and were seated relatively quickly, just my mother and myself. The place was PACKED, I'll give them that, but we waited at least 20 minutes before a waitress came to get our order, and then I know the waitress who ended up waiting on us was not "our waitress", but one who realized we needed to be waited on. Mom had the traditional turkey dinner and said it was very good. She had enough on the plate to bring home a second complete meal. I went with the Hangover Burger with the Impossible patty and fries. It consists of the Impossible Burger, lettuce, tomato, & mayo topped with a fried egg and hash browns and it was amazingly De-li-ci-ous! Normally that burger comes with bacon, so if you get it, fellow vegheads, be sure to ask for it without the pig. The burger was awesome. The fries were over cooked, but edible and sparse on the plate. Our waitress claimed being overwhelmed as a reason for our poor service right off the bat, and I gave her that and gave her grace, but as the dining room emptied and the service didn't improve, I began to wonder if that was the case. By the time we were ready to go and we'd sat at the table obviously finished with our meals, plates stacked, looking around, and she was still just slowly clearing a table trying to look busy, I was really starting to wonder whether she'd forgotten she was our waitress. She looked over at us a few times and even went to their little register area, as if she'd noticed and was getting our bill, but... nope, she went back to cleaning the table. Finally my mom asked another waiter if he could get our waitress, and watching that line of thinking totally break down was amusing. If we had to wait for him to tell her, it would have been another 15 minutes. As it was, our waitress saw me pointing her out to him and came over. When we asked for our check she said, "Oh, I guess that might be helpful, huh?" With all of this, I'm not changing my stars, because the food is so good and this last time, I believe, was an anomaly. I just felt I should report it, just in case it isn't, since I'm not a regular here. This has only been my 3rd time here. She did take the drinks off the bill "because of everything", and come to find out I had asked the manager to get us a box for Mom's leftovers. Idk if he had anything to do with that or if she did that on her own accord.
A decent middle of the road option for a casual meal out. I would not set hopes high for getting your stake exactly as you ordered, but it was so-so... For a salad, make sure to ask for a dressing as apparently it is not automatically included... ‍ Small drinks and refills only at the end, when ready to pay, even when it was a slow night. Overall, not bad but blah...
We randomly stopped into this Coco’s location after a couple of beers at Tap & Bottle. I hadn’t been inside of a Coco’s in 20+ years and my girlfriend grew up going to Coco’s with her grandparents. It was like a stroll down memory lane and it was very sentimental and just as I remembered it. My girlfriend was so happy that we both went inside for a bite to eat before heading back to Phoenix. It just felt good being in there. Our server, Jonathan, was very nice and had great customer service skills. We truly appreciated the experience and the great service.
Went in on Thanksgiving, pies were all out we arrived at 5pm as walk-ins for 3, we were seated right away and the wait for the meals and drinks wasn't bad..but my soup was luke warm and I ordered a Cesar salad w/ dressing on the side..but had to send it back to be remade as it was served initially with the dressing. It's a better place for a nonchalant lunch as opposed to a dinner date/ special occasion in my opinion.
Pleasantly surprised with this "down to earth" chain restaurant. Although it was obviously an older building, the place was immaculate. With so much competition around them, it was obvious to me, that they took pride in how they presented their food and dining experience - it was delicious, fair priced and well portioned. The wait staff was kind and attentive. I was also surprised that they had a license to serve beer. The chilled beer was a nice addition to my club sandwich. To top our experience, the manager came and asked how the food was. He was authentically appreciative that we chose their restaurant that evening. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking for American fare. Delicious.
I can’t believe I’m giving a chain restaurant 4 stars but we love this for breakfast at any time of the day. Prices are kind of high, but the French toast and hash browns are realllly good and the bacon is always so crispy! Pancakes are good too. The pies are ok, but breakfast is where it’s at!
