One of the hippest coffee shops on the planet. Carved out of a 19th century City Of Milwaukee water flushing station - another example of Milwaukee entrepreneurs recycling funky old municipal buildings (see Lakefront and City Lights breweries) - this huge yet still cozy hangout place has a unique ambience. Terrific teas and coffees, tasty sandwiches, friendly service, and myriad places to sit and chill and people-watch or whatever. An absolute must in the summer, when you can sit on the large outdoor patio and look out over Lake Michigan. A+ bike friendly, too.

The drinks are always as ordered and the food varies so you don't always have the same boring choices. It is in a good location near the lakefront and in a nice historic building. It can be cramped at times, but if you go in summer you can easily leave for more space while staying close if you need more food or drinks.

I like the ambience. Different levels and rooms for sitting down. Great for a quick bite and a drink. You can sit and work on a project, study, or meet up with a small group. Free WiFi is available.
Parking can get tight during busy times. Handicap parking is available. 
I enjoyed a hazelnut latte. Good service. They keep the place clean.

I gave it 3 stars, but I'm not the target demographic.  The coffee and food is good,  but you have pay extra for the hipster tax. The building is interesting, but the odd design means there's not enough seating so make sure to check and see if there's an open spot before ordering.  Terrible place to sit, sip coffee,  and work or read. Good place to people watch.

Great feel and vibe. Could work here forever and it's a great place to chill. The coffee is great but I've also had better, so it doesn't get 5 stars. They have solid food, though! Would totally recommend - and they're rightfully a Milwaukee staple.
