About

CSCA is an academically rigorous public K-8 charter school, which uses the Core Knowledge curriculum.

Story

CSCA is a tuition-free, public school which, like other charter schools, has the flexibility to be innovative while still being held accountable for student achievement.

Below are more facts about Colorado's charter schools in general:

- Charter schools are public schools.

- Charter schools do not charge tuition (except K).

- Charter schools use non-discriminatory enrollment practices.

- There are no "test-in" requirements to attend charter schools.

- Currently, nearly 72,000 students attend the 170 charter school campuses in Colorado. This amounts to approximately 8.8% of total K-12 public school enrollment in the state.

- Charter school students must take the CSAP.

- Charter schools are subject to the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.

- Charter school teachers must be "highly qualified" under NCLB.

- Charter schools serve a broad range of diverse students, including low-income, racial and ethnic minorities, and students with disabilities or other special needs.

- Colorado charter schools continue to attract a variety of students and are located in diverse geographical areas across the state.

- Charter school programs and academic designs are as diverse as the students they enroll. Some charters implement longer school days, while others implement curricula specifically designed for at-risk students, gifted children, pregnant/parenting teens, juvenile offenders, and more.

This school is very nice- while you’re there with your kid. Once parents gone it turns into a prison. My child developed a chronic illness that had me in the school daily and I was able to witness some amazing injustices. Kindergarteners being scolded for not standing at the bathroom line with one foot on a line in the tile and facing forward with mouths closed . This school also is very far behind on homework policies, there is WAY TOO muc. The staff will take away recess for any slight infraction, but just a few minutes at a time so they can hold the threat through the day. This is also very old concept of discipline. The kids are never ever allowed to talk and I even saw a woman teacher enter the boys bathroom just to tell them they were not allowed to be talking. The staff have a few good people and here but for the most part they have an overwhelming lack of empathy, are mean to the kids and will “keep them under their thumb” all day long. Definitely do not recommend this s hook.

WORST SCHOOL I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. MY CHILD WENT LESS THAN A MONTH AND I AM PULLING HER OUT! MEEGHAN AT THE SCHOOL DECIDED TO NOT CALL ANYONE ON MY CHILD'S PICKUP LIST AND DECIDED TO BLOW MY PHONE UP. THAT DID NOT END WELL AT ALL. HAD SHE SIMPLY CALLED THE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE PICKUP LIST, MY CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN PICKED UP RIGHT AWAY. I APOLOGIZED FOR MY RESPONSE TO HER BLOWING UP MY PHONE AND TRIED TO ADDRESS THE FACT SHE DID NOT CALL ANYONE ON THE PICKUP LIST WITH THE ASST PRINCIPAL AND WAS YELLED AT! REGARDLESS, I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE ONLY ONE CALLED. I AM PULLING MY CHILD OUT OF THE SCHOOL AS WE SPEAK. TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THIS NIGHTMARE OF A SCHOOL AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in fourth grade at csca and I loved it I can not wait until fifth grade but the homework I think is a little bit to much I spent 1-2hours doing it and I usually do home work in 30mins to 1hr.
