Columbine United Church is a Christ–centered, theologically open, ecumenical congregation where Faith and Life meet. www.columbinechurch.org
CUC is an open, welcoming community. Our tagline is “where faith and life meet,” and I think you will find us to be a place where that is true. Our opinions and thoughts are diverse, our theology is open, and our social ethics are affirming and welcoming. You can be a Democrat or Republic, gay or straight, a cowboy or a tech-hipster, traditional or contemporary, young or young-at-heart, or somewhere outside any of these labels, and you will find CUC to be a place with open arms ready to embrace you just as you are. We are striving to be a place where real life meets an everyday faith that makes sense and makes a difference.
The Mission of Columbine United Church is to inspire and sustain a faith driven church environment where members, friends and seekers of all ages may explore and develop their personal relationship with God. We seek to grow our faith through the teachings of Jesus Christ and the study of scripture, critical thought and theological exploration, and in fellowship with others, regardless of racial, ethnic or religious background, gender, or sexual orientation. We value a church community that is Christ–centered yet theologically open, ecumenical, participatory and dynamic – where faith and life meet.
Columbine United Church will serve as an inspirational guide to its members and friends and a beacon of Christianity to the community. We will feature sacred celebratory and progressive worship, innovative programs to challenge body, mind and soul, care and nurturing from cradle to grave, and significant member participation in the life and mission of the church.
CUC was established in 1969 as a United Methodist church. Three years later it became a part of an interdenominational effort in the Denver Metro area to create three new congregations that were affiliated with the Presbyterian church USA, the United Methodist and the United Church of Christ. These three churches, in Aurora, Montbello and here in Littleton, are still in existence. We believe that being a part of these three denominations gives us more access to resources, experiences, and ministry outreach.
