If you look at my review history, you will see, I do not write negative reviews. If I have an unpleasant experience, I typically let it go. I cannot let this go. Summarizing my Comerica experience. 1) My mother passed away. Due to being bedside with her, I was unable to make bank deposits. I was assessed NSF fees. I called the bank, sent in appropriate docs and requested a courtesy refund on the fees. Branch Manager, Rosemary said she would get back with me. Despite at least 6 follow up emails, I never received a response. I let it go. 2) Shortly thereafter, I noticed I had additional NSF charges when my account was NOT overdrawn. I was told NSF fees were charged on PENDING charges despite a cash deposit. I researched this and it’s legal. I have never heard of a bank doing this. Again, let it go.3) I made a smart phone mobile app deposit. I was assessed NSF fees. I was told checks over 1k deposited via mobile app were placed on hold. I was told this info was not online but on the mobile app disclosure when I downloaded the app to my phone. I requested a copy of the disclosure from Rosemary. I never received it, nor did I receive a follow up call. 4 Prior to travel, I called Comerica to get primary and secondary account bank cards cleared for foreign travel. Upon checking into my hotel, my primary card was denied - International fraud hold. I contacted Rosemary from Europe. She gave me a 1-800 number to call and told me “good luck” before hanging up. I spent 2 vaca days staying up late to make time zone challenging, international phone calls to remedy. My secondary account bank card did not have a hold. I was forced to use it or starve. That account did not have sufficient funds to cover 2 days of hotel and eating, my primary account did. When I returned home, I was hit with NSF fees on my secondary account despite the bank error. Again, I let it go. 5) During my 10-day travel, THREE international fraud holds were placed on my account. 6) Comerica bank cards do not have EMV chips. If you are traveling to a Europe, THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. Many businesses in Europe will not accept payment from a bank card without a EMV chip. 7) Despite Comerica’s failure to offer bank cards with EMV security chips, Comerica customers are still charged 3% on ALL international bank card purchases and are subject to inconvenient, multiple security holds being placed on their accounts. 8) Comerica Bank customers are required to pay an additional fee for online bill pay. No major bank that I am aware of charges a fee for this service. 9) If you lose your bank card, you cannot to go to a nearby branch for immediate temporary replacement. Every major bank has this convenience. Comerica customers pay a $35 fee for a mailed replacement card. 9) Today, I went to make a deposit. The deposit included checks from the same customers, using the same checking accounts for the past year and a half. I was told a hold would be placed on the checks because of extensive NSF fees on the account. YOUR KIDDING ME, RIGHT? The length of the hold could not be determined. I explained I had checks coming in and if a hold was placed on the deposit, I would receive additional NSF fees. She nodded her head yes. I requested my deposit be returned to me. I am done. I do not eat bank fees because I’m a passive person with a cash flow that supports banking BS. I let the banking fees go because I am a typical, small business owner that must focus on business growth. I do not have the time or resources to fight with banks. Maybe large corporations do well at Comerica Bank. If you are a small business owner, you might want to look at a small business friendly bank with an efficient branch managers that look out for you, stay on top of your account and give courtesy calls when necessary. That was the service I was accustomed to receiving at Amegy Bank, League City, TX and that is where I will return. This bank will NOT get another dime from me! It is there turn to eat it and let it go!
