TGP often uses the phrase "Welcome Home," and that's exactly how I felt the very first time I was there. I felt like I had come home. It's the first time I have truly enjoyed attending church since 1981! And I am just as excited each time I walk through the comes as I was the first time! Everyone makes feel welcome and "at home."

I haven't been to the church in this building, but I recently went to get coffee at Common Grounds on a weekday. There seems to be a trend in Alabama for churches with coffee shops built in, and this is the best one I've been to. Compared to the other church coffee shops (and even some normal coffee shops), the menu is really good. There's lots of interesting flavors that I've never seen before, such as the seasonal cinnamon roll latte that I got. It definitely did taste like cinnamon rolls, and it was delicious. It's more similar to Starbucks than to a real coffee shop, with the flavor being bold and heavy, masking the coffee taste, as opposed to the more subtle notes of real coffee shop coffee. The folks at the counter are friendly and seem to know their stuff. In terms of decor, it's pretty sparse. I'm sure this is to maximize space for when church is in service in this building, but it's strange seeing such a huge space for a coffee shop with only a few chairs and sofas scattered around. There's not a lot to look at inside, either. The artwork is minimal, and the two TV's were off. Stylistically it looks like every other contemporary church out there. I can't complain, though - I'm just glad one of these church coffee shops is actually good!
