Story

There is nothing like finding a warm Jewish community where you can feel at home. The members of our community welcome you to Congregation Shearith Israel.

Shearith Israel is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue devoted to spiritual and religious enrichment. We closely follow Jewish tradition while honoring the insights of modern thought.

We are located only minutes from downtown Atlanta in the Morningside/Virginia-Highland/Emory area. We serve more than 350 families and our congregants come from all over Atlanta to participate in our wonderful services and activities. Our members span a broad spectrum: young and old, singles and families, those already Jewishly committed and others growing in that direction.

At Shearith Israel, our congregation embraces its members and provides a rich environment for pursuing Jewish spirituality and observing the traditions of our people. Our community is bound together by the intimacy and warmth of a shul that encourages lay participation and leadership.
