Story

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is a wonderful place to visit - alone or with your family. Spend an hour or the whole day and see more than 300 animals representing primarily North and South American species. Come learn about our many endangered and threatened species, which include the Amur (Siberian) tiger, Andean condor, Ocelot, Red wolf, Maned wolf, and Golden lion tamarin.

Come see our South American rainforest with free-flight aviary, then walk through the prairie dog exhibit with "pop-up" viewing areas. Visit the New England Farmyard with goats, cows, pigs, sheep and other barnyard critters. Take a walk along the hoofstock trail featuring bison, pronghorn, deer and more. Before you leave grab a bite at the Peacock Café, eat in the Picnic Grove and take a ride on our colorful carousel. We can't wait to see you!

Certainly a must if you live in the area. Not even for just the zoo but for the open fields just to be out of the house is nice too. Staff don't look so pleased to be working. Maybe it's just the weather. Anyways. Great exhibits. Fun amenities. They got what you need for a family day out

We had a great time here with our 1.5 yo and friends (4, 3, and 4 months). The kids loved the animals and the place was very kid-friendly. Our only problem was with the dining at the Peacock Cafe; the line and the wait were horrendous. The workers were excellent and kind but clearly overworked. There was nowhere good to wait for your food order. Otherwise, all in all a great experience, and a great visit. Will definitely go again, but not around lunchtime!!! (The woman who parked us was awesome, too btw.)

This is a small well-kept zoo with animals to see right when you walk in! There is plenty to do for kids. I felt that this zoo had a lot of photo-opts! The staff was cordial and volunteers hold onto objects that enhance your experience. My friend and iI took about 3 hours to experience the whole park and saw everything. The Peacock Cafe has a good selection of food items although i do not usually prefer to buy food. Typical attraction prices. This was a cute day trip.

A very nice little zoo. Great to walk around, and you can see the whole thing in one visit. There is a restaurant for lunch foods, and smaller places for snacks that are open seasonally.

Definitely in need of some updating and maintenance. Some of the cages do seem a little small for the animals but all the animals seemed to be in good health. A little pricey for the size of the zoo and number of animals (multiple exhibits only had 1 animal in them). They do seem to be working to make a better zoo with multiple future exhibits coming soon. Overall I think it's just a zoo in need of some community support. With some support it can provide a better visiting experience and better exhibits for the animals.
