Could be better. Having second thought about going to France after meeting those French, including consulate employees and otherwise.

The only con is the receptionist in the front.. So RUDE!!!! Seemed like it was because i didn't speak french. Other than that, The French consulate in Houston is such a well oiled machine. Making an appointment for my wife was super easy. I had something come up and had to change my appointment and doing that was super easy as well. Emailed a few questions and got responses within a short time. Prudence and Sylvie were so so helpful, very amazing women. We complied the required documents, and on the day of the interview, got there on early. Appointment was Wed, Aug 23rd at 9 AM. My wife was seen earlier and was done by 9:07 AM. The "interview" process was quick and the interviewer was super nice.Made me love the French even more.. 2 days later, on Friday, the passport and Visa was ready for pickup. We live in Dallas, so we were going to drive to go pick it up on Monday. Then Hurricane Harvey hit. I was so worried because i have family in Houston that i had forgotten about the passport. Then i saw a Facebook notification from the Consulate with updates. I loved that. We didn't have to chase after the consulate, information was provided as it was available. They opened today, 8/30/2017 for people to pick up their passports and i am happy to say we got the visa.

There is a new saying: The French know how to have fun but the Brits know how to run business.....However if want to apply for a schengen visa, you come to the right place. (Check out the comments left for the UK Consulate.) Yet if you want to invest in France, you will find yourself disappointed, because their compartmental bureaucracy will forward your message along to nowhere. And then you'll be frustrated with their English. I got what I came for. The application process was done efficiently, with online appointment. The French know how to organize, yet the operation of Houston office could still be bettered. However overall customer service is poor, compared to that of American. For one thing why would you have a receptionist who doesn't speak English. Don't you realize your office is a business after all and image is everything? Who knows that better with all that high fashion thing? Shouldn't you put your best foot forward? My friends say the French are arrogant and you can see that in the media reviews as well. But I beg to differ. Their interaction with Americans is mixed - some French are friendly and others seem to have attitude issues. (However, as a whole they seem to admire the Germans; and the English to a lesser degree.) Like America, there are two Frances. Their behavior toward the second America is not kind like they are to the Musulman in France. Thus you can deal with them in two ways. To get good customer service from them, don't talk too much and let them notice your thick wallet. After all Americans are famously friendly and generous, while the French famously love tips. (The Japanese on the other hand emphasize good manner.) If you have ever done business with the French, you would soon find out they are poor business people. They don't seem to follow up. They typically don't reply to your comments. They love to forward your email to the right personnel {passing the ball). When they do reply, they would be super defensive whereas typical mainstream American companies would be "deeply sorry and concerned" that you are not happy with their service and products, and ready to make it up to you. The Americans would quickly respond, especially when you post your comments in the mass media, whereas the French??? (I don't expect one here.) Footnote: American companies would go on and intentionally make "mistakes" though. Ever check your AT&T or Comcast bills?)

I had an early appointment, I was nervous going in but the staff there are really nice. They were very detailed but explained everything clearly. All of my questions were answered too. Though you should bring everything you need. They can't help you out with things like printing. Also the hours are wrong. They close at noon. Still a great though.
