The people there are the most important part of the Conway Public Library experience. Everyone knows me by my name because I am there all the time, it's amazing.

On the good side they have multiple tables for people who need them to work at. They have desks which are private cubicles. There are multiple living room type chairs along the sides of the rooms. They have three public bathrooms and an expansive children's room. They have a magazine room and multiple public computers. They also have a meeting room with new pictures on the wall every month. They have a history room where you can get newspaper reports dating back into antiquity. Unlike some other libraries, it's set up to make visitors comfortable. It isn't one of those places where visitors are treated like a nuisance and a bother. It's a good place for children because of their children's room and because visitors are not denied the right to use the bathroom. On the downside, I went there a short time ago to work on a school assignment. I was humiliated when I went to upload my work onto my email and found that their computer would not let me do this. I am no stranger to uploading documents and other files onto the web or onto my email. This operating system they have made uploading extremely difficult. One of the librarians had to come show me how to do it and it was a long complicated process. When I tried to upload a second document by myself, I did it the same way I was shown and this was only to be abused again by the operating system of the computer. I sat there for an extended period of time, not wanting to bother anyone, then finally got help from another librarian who also had an extremely difficult time uploading my work. They also had all the computers suddenly shut down while I was working and my work was lost. This happened even though I kept on pressing SAVE every minute or so. The temporary shut down resulted in my having to remember all the work I did and re-do it. Until I got help from the staff, I was looking at the possibility of more than an hour of wasted time on an assignment that I could not even upload to my email. I do thank the library staff who always helps me when I have problems on their computer. I also thank them for being concerned enough about their visitors to get a new operating system that is probably not as prone to get viruses as some other public computers. This is more than I can say for some public libraries. I do think public computers should have an operating system that does not abuse and humiliate their users with complicated processes that makes them look like idiots. I'm sorry but this type of thing just does not belong in a public place where it has the possibility of humiliating it's users. Other than that, this library is a wonderful place for a road break.
