Amazing food, drinks, and service! Wes produced the most amazing espresso martini I've ever had, followed by a super refreshing and well-balanced Lion's Tail. The Bangers and Mash pasty was delicious; slightly pricey, sure, but the taste was superb and prepared perfectly by the kitchen. The service was excellent; Wes is super personable and takes his time to help find what you want, and is just a warm and welcoming person. Will be back the next time I'm on this side of Boston!
Great vibe right on Massachusetts Avenue. There is outdoor seating in the spring and summer, but they are not pet friendly. There is a good selection of beer with five or six draft lines of varying styles, one of which is Guinness and poured well. The pasties are quite expensive. Not sure why that is, but maybe it would be better to make smaller ones that are a little less eye watering price wise.
Great service here! Loved the Oggie - it was delicious and baked well! Broccoli & Cauliflower Mornay was a bit disappointing and under seasoned. Banoffee pie was a generous portion. The crust was thick and it was gone quickly.
It’s an amazing place. We were here on multiple occasions and it never failed to impress us. They have a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options. We have tried all of them and they all are so unique and delicious! Highly recommend their banoffee pie too.Recommended dishesSticky Toffee Pudding, The Oggie Pasty, Banoffee Pie
This place is awesome! Super friendly staff and great pasties! The best pasty I’ve ever had! Great English pub atmosphere too! Not touristy and very authentic!
Casual British tavern that specializes in Cornish pasties. My friend and I recently came here to try Cornish pasties for the first time. The place was quite empty on a Sunday afternoon, and we were able to grab one of the booth seatings. We ordered two of their meat pasties including the Oggie and the pepper steak with swiss cheese. Since we didn't have a lot of experience with Cornish pasties, we couldn't tell whether they were authentic or not. Regardless, both were good, and my favorite was the pepper steak pasties which had tender chunks of steak tips that went well with the peppercorn brandy cream sauce. The only letdown was the portion size which we found to be small for the price.
I like Cornish pasties a great deal and haven't had one in a while. Had the vegan tikka pasty, as well as small helpings of both banoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding recommend. Very English. Vegetarian options: A few of vegetarian and vegan pasty options.
What can I say about this place… I’m British, the only British thing about it is the fact they claim to serve Cornish pasties. Their OG pasty was big chunks of meat, not minced, too much onion and generally weird tasting. The pastry on it was good tho. The fries were inedible and were chewy. We asked for HP sauce and got BBQ sauce. The British beers that are meant to be served warm were served cold and also weird.all that for about 80$. Gunna go to east Boston next time for my pies. They’re Australian but at least it’s closer to British than this. Also if you’re going to represent British food in the US and want British people to come. Maybe don’t have a massive advert for a drink called a “car bomb” outside the store. It’s not a “funny drink name” for British people and quite frankly was a scary time for the people of London. So overall.. this place is not British, the food was overpriced and it is in no way representative of British food or Cornish pasty’s. Avoid
Wes the bartender server is so wonderful. He helped me pick the perfect beer Old Cornish Hen to compliment my cottage pie pasty. The food is delicious and conforming. The atmosphere is homey and perfect. Go there.
I have eaten here several times in the past few years and was shocked to visit and see that prices have increased by 70%. While the food is yummy, it’s not worth $30 at all. I understand that inflation and the pandemic are factors in the pricing but this increase is wild considering what you get - a pasty with no sides that isn’t really a meal on its own? I’ve seen that management has tried to justify this increase in other review comments. However, one has to question their business model and prowess if keeping doors open required such a steep price hike? Hope this price increase isn’t permanent and that management can find other solutions.
