This library is wonderful for me. It's not perfect. Sometimes parent's bring their kids and cant stop them from running around and screaming-- or they haven't taught them any manners. However, if you bring some earplugs and headphones you will enjoy the place. If you have never been here before please go to the front first to get a library card. Then, go to the reference area and they can help you answering any questions you may have. The staff is very helful. The homeless use this library which i think is ok but sometimes when they become a problem there is a security guard that deals with the problems. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. These are my people and my hometown. They are not perfect but dont expect me to give them less than 5 stars-- 5 stars for staff, 3.5 stars for the other elements.

It's a great place to study. The staff is very attentive. They make sure to keep the laptop tables open for those who actually need to plug in their computers. I havent had any issues at this library.

As a visitor to town I wanted a quiet place to work that had good internet. The library has a number of tables and fast internet that worked really well for the whole day. There are some homeless people who hang in and around the library but they were very orderly and just stuck to themselves and read the paper or their book. The bathrooms do require you ask to use them but the staff are quick to let you in.

This library is well stocked, and staffed with wonderful employees and volunteers. The only downside to this library are the people that use the library. As others have mentioned, there are many homeless people that use the facility - however, they are not the problem. While some people occasionally do cause a disturbance, it's the folks who feel that a public library should only be accessed by SOME members of the public that I take issue with. The folks who think they have special rights in a public space because they're fortunate enough to have a warm home to go to at night - and fail to see that of all the places a homeless person can go, the library is one forum where they have an opportunity to spend time and improve their plight. One way to get a job, perform well in an interview, or advance in life, is through education --- after childhood, education costs money....unless it's found in a public library. While not every homeless person in the library is there to learn, I have met and talked with several that have been some of the more interesting library goers - they are human beings, many of them intelligent, well versed in history and books, and with interesting stories to tell. Perhaps if people would show a little compassion for the less fortunate, they'd enjoy the library (and other PUBLIC spaces) more. I'm at the library at least once per week, and have been for months - I've witnessed only one...yes, ONE disturbance. And it was handled quickly and without police involvement. This library is a tremendous resource, conveniently located, and offers books, audio cd's, movies, and more. I especially like the language section, which offers learning guides for many languages. There is also a book store operated by the Friends of the Costa Mesa Library, and most books cost only $1 or less --- and they have some great stuff! Passport services are also available.

There's always cops and homeless people here. Well stocked, clean, and quiet, though.
