Welcome to the FB page of the Coventry RI Police Dept. In case of emergency dial 9-1-1. Do not report emergencies on this page.
The Coventry Police Department was originally built in 1940 as a Town Hall. The Coventry Police took sole occupancy of the building in 1980 and began retrofitting it as best they could to meet the needs of the 40 persons employed at that time.
Today, the department employs 78 personnel, 57 police officers and 21 civilian support staff. Our needs have grown along with our agency and our town. The building has become increasingly overcrowded and difficult to manage. After occupying this building for more than three decades, we are now running short on additional secure and dry space necessary to safe guard our evidence and sensitive technology. Our overall growth and building conditions, coupled with recent structural problems prompted our agency to attempt to find a new home. Simply put we have outgrown the building.
While 1075 Main St. remains a historical landmark, it has long outlived its ability to function effectively as a police station.
“Our mission is to protect the community we serve, enhance public safety, and reduce the incidents and fear of crime. We will accomplish this with honor, integrity and courage, while at all times holding ourselves to the highest standards for our community and members”
