I went to the ER after an injury to my right knee.  I was in severe pain on a pain scale-9.  I was put in a wheelchair & after a long wait in the lobby I was evulated by a nurse, then I waited a while longer and my knee was xrayed, then I was put in an exam room and waited forever to be seen by a nurse practitioner.  My right knee had an inplant from a previous surgery.  When the nurse practitioner finally came in to talk to me he said the inplant was fine & not broken. I was placed in a knee immobilizer & given crutches
and told to keep the immobilizer on for 5 days. When
I returned home I went to a local orthopedic physican, I not only had a fracture, I had a ruptured ligament. This diagnosis was made by looking at the xray that was taken at Cox Medical Center ER.
I believe 2 things; 1) I was not crying or making a scene, therefore my injury was not taken seriously 2) whoever reads the xrays at that medical center needs a
refresher course, or to go back to school.
There could have been long lasting problems had I just taken the immobilizer off after 5 days & not gone to another physican.
If you get hurt in Branson, Missouri, have them stabilize you & then send you somewhere else !!
