Credo
"Credo is the Latin word for "I believe." We believe that good food and good company go hand in hand. We believe in the time-honored tradition of the dinner table debate and the swirling mix of ideas that makes this country great. We believe simple things can be brilliant, like authentic, responsibly sourced ingredients, attention to detail and gracious hospitality. Credo opened on Martin Luther King Jr. day in 2010. Our chef, Larry Finn, creates a menu that reflects his deep appreciation of Italian culinary traditions combined with Northern California sensibilities. Distilling robust and complex flavors from simple ingredients, local produce, sustainable seafood and meats, and imported Italian specialty items."

Credo is a solid establishment in SF and nails 4-stars in every aspect. Everything - food, service, atmosphere, price - is above average and occasionally touches the 5th star but there is definitely something missing to hit that caliber. Unlike many SF restaurants, Credo has secured a large enough space where they definitely set their atmosphere to make a statement. Rustic yet modern interior design with big bold fonts on white definitely takes you away from the streets that wrap the joint. The restaurant feels airy and large windows enhances the mood. Food is solid too. The croquettes were crispy. The baked brie was well balanced and sweet. The fig jam was hearty. The bread was warm with delicious butter and salt. The presentation was also great. But none of the dishes were memorable. They all tasted good, but nothing registered in my mind as unique nor irreplaceable. Again, above average, down the middle, execution. Credo has a reasonable price for what they provide and for this, I do think the restaurant will be popular for the foreseeable future. And yes, I would return. But there's that part of me that wants more. I want to see Credo fully unleashing its potential. They need to take a bit more stance with their taste. Pick a path and commit to it.
Great food, family style. Mains were shared with the table - steak was tender maybe a bit too undercooked for me, the salmon and chicken were a hit. Full of flavor and not dry at all. Wow. The roasted veggies were good - some broccoli had a good char, carrots and mushroom a bit greasy. Food was well plated and don't skip the freshly baked bread. It gets a bit crowded inside, but service was fast.
Ok. Found this place because it was close to hotel. We walked in and IMMEDIATELY I wanted to hate this place. There are quotes on the wall that could be seen as derogatory and political. I found several right next to me that I did not agree on. I was now giving this place a one star. Buuuut Our waiter Angel was very fast and extremely friendly. He lied to me about jalapeños but I let that slide inside joke. He was genuine and checked on us often. I ordered the spicy margarita and I am from Texas so did not expect much. I was amazed at how good this was. I had to order a second to make sure and the second was amazing also. My wife had the old fashion which neither of us cared for. We both ordered the burger and it came out extremely fast and was delicious. My wife added avocado and I added an egg. They were both delicious. They came with Parmesan fries and they were cooked perfect. Crunchy on outside soft on inside. So this was one place that went from 1 star to a 5 because they have great service, awesome food and an angel making margaritas. Gave three stars because of decor. This may be some people’s thing but I found some of them offensive. Either way you really should try this place.
Great service. Very quiet on a Friday night. Excellent wine menu. Reasonably priced. We had the hummus which was fantastic. The Cobb Salad with chicken was large and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The salmon was good, a little dry for my taste but I asked for medium so that may have been their definition of medium. Great dessert selection as well! Overall a solid dinner choice in the city.
Great service and overall really happy with the experience. The dishes looked really good. They brought a loaf of bread with butter which made it a great appetizer. - Had the wild risotto which was great 4/5 I wish it was a bit less liquid though. - beets mozarella salad which tasted ok. Not a fan of the peaches in there. It tasted way too sweet for my taste 2/5 - brussel sprouts with bacon 3/5 it tasted great for a side -octopus. Wasn’t that great. Reallt chewy 2/5
My husband and I loved the ambiance, the food and the amazing hospitality of the staff! They made his birthday special with a birthday card signed by the staff, and treated us to a yummy dessert! We had seafood, which they have great options for with the halibut, salmon and octopus.
Credo is centrally located in San Francisco, where street parking was not difficult to find on a weeknight. The food was delicious, the service attentive, and the bill...given to someone else who owed me a dinner! $$$ out of $$$$$. I would recommend Credo.
Very nice ambience and lovely staff. Loud so keep in mind if this bothers you, might want to book if you have a limited time slot. We tried dinner, chardonnay and sauvignon Blanc from local vineyards, quite simple but nice. Warm olives are super, its large so share 2-3 ppl. The pasta in pizza bread was fun but would try something different next time.
Great food and service. Our large group was constantly attended to and the food was prepared quickly.Food: 5/5
Everything about our meals was fresh and creative. We started with the Burrata and warm olives. The Burrata was fresh and would highly recommend. I had the Ricotta Gnocch which was tasty and full of flavor. They are good for large groups with the basement seating which has the ambience of good sayings written over the wall. Their service is very good and professional. Picture of the Ricotta Gnocchi.
