Attorney Crusco was assigned as a GAL after an ex parte for the guardianship of our granddaughter....we were ordered to pay her half of the fee of $1500, $750 was our payment. The Judge told us what paperwork would needed to be provided, we did so in a timely manner, our daughter didn't supply paperwork for months, she should have been held in contempt, but she wasn't. We had to contact her office to find out what was going on as our court date was coming up, she told us that she was changing the court date as she had another obligation,,ok..and when were you going to tell us that, but she said make an appointment to come in for a consultation, we talked to her secretary and made an appointment, When we arrived we were taken to a conference room by her secretary, Kysa came in about 10 minutes later..my husband and I could not believe our eyes, she looked disheveled, her clothes were wrinkled, her hair unkept and really she looked like she had a hangover and had not been to bed or slept in her clothes. So she sat down with pen and paper in hand,,,,said hello...got up from the table and opened a window,,sat back down,,said nothing..got back up left the room for another five or so minutes came back in and said she needed some water, OK...so she said whats the story,,we explained the abuse our granddaughter was suffering at the hands of her mother and father, we expected she would take notes..but no she didn't write one thing down,,we told her the rest of the story..but what we found odd is she Never looked at us,,she got up opened the door told her secretary she wanted to speak to our granddaughter...that was it..after that when we would call we had no response...and when it was time for her to speak with our granddaughter my husband had written down some questions we had, so he took our granddaughter to her office and as she was being taken to the conference room Kysa told my husband she was not going to talk to him..he said I just have a few questions and she said i don't care, i will speak with your granddaughter and thats it. She Never went to visit our granddaughters school or therapist and at that point had not even spoken with her parents. But the bills kept on coming, review this or that,,were like what this was beginning to get into the thousands..finally she did an office visit with our daughter and her husband 3 days before the court date. Our attorney was informed on the Friday before our Monday court date that Kysa had made her decision, and she was sending our granddaughter back home!..Of course we were devastated because she didn't order any counseling for the parents, no treatment for their alcohol abuse, nothing. Then the court date was moved again..during that time she decided to go visit the parents,,which was out of town, and spent alot of time talking about nothing, over and over again. Now this is after the fact that she had already made her decision..so we go to court she is the only one to get on the stand because not enough time was given for a trial. She was asked if she had read the report from the previous GAL ..as this was the second time our granddaughter was removed from the home. She said yes she had, ..say what..she wasn't suppose to read that report as it could sway her decision...so in her report almost word for word as to why she was sending our granddaughter home was clearly taken from the previous GAL report...keep the family unit together..even if the child is being physically and emotionally abused. Soon after the hearing we get a bill for another $1200 dollars of which we were expected to pay half, by now we are up to over $3000 dollars..I am saying no way.. email her office,,tried calling...no response....next thing we know she files paperwork to bring us to court for non payment...the Judge spent more time talking about why Kysa should get paid then was spent on sending our granddaughter back to an abusive home! Those fees were racked up After Kysa had made her decision and we didn't feel it was fair..she has filed paperwork for a bench warrant, Kysa is unethical, STAY AWAY....

I have Kim shaughnessy out of this office for my family case. She has done amazing, and is great at what she does. She thorough, and hardworking. I honestly couldn't ask for a better attorney

I had the same exact experience as Rebecca Doe as I would not recommend Kysa Crusco for any sort of representation or you will be extremely disappointed. For someone to actually take the time to file a complaint, you need to know it is "valid" and not just speaking from some sort of loss in a case. You will go in for your initial consultation and Kysa will make you feel as though there is "nothing to worry about" and by hiring her it will be money well spent. However, there is little to no communication as you will need to reach out to her "several times" and as Rebecca stated, you will have to chase her to find out if an e-mail has been received as there is never any follow up. She will also bill you for services that are not valid and if you try to dispute them after paying her thousands, she will hire a collection attorney to take you to court as she will not appear herself and will inflate the initial amount due by waiting years later to add on finance charges, court fees, etc...(I guess she doesn't believe in "communication" as she is afraid to use a phone and e-mail is out of the question) as it is very obvious why she will not appear to represent herself as it's not that she doesn't have the time - it's because she knows that her former client is 100% correct and she will lose. As Rebecca stated, I also had to discontinue Kysa's services and hire another attorney. Beware of her response to this as you are just setting yourself up for disappointment. There are several other attorneys in the area to chose from and even though she may offer a discounted rate, in the end it's not worth the loss or aggravation. I am personally taking this case to a higher level to fight for what is fair. I would not take any notice to her response to this as she will manipulate it as she did Rebecca's. Do yourself a favor and chose someone else.

I can honestly state that I became increasingly disappointed with my interactions with Kysa the longer I retained her as counsel regarding modifying my comparatively straightforward pre-existing parenting agreement. During our initial consultation, I found her to be both accommodating and knowledgeable; however, as I worked to prepare for the first mediation session that was rapidly approaching, communication from Kysa and her staff was nearly nonexistent. I felt that the closer one gets to his/her mediation date and the more topics that have yet to be reviewed and discussed, there exists an ever-increasing need to have both some sort of acknowledgement as well as guidance from your attorney. I sent numerous emails over the span of days, as well as follow up emails (to make sure they were being received), and multiple times it was not until I called her office that I was informed my email had been received. In the end, even after pushing for responses, I felt that I had no other choice other than to seek different council. After ending my client-attorney relationship with Kysa in writing, she continued to review documents that I had asked her not to, claiming she did not see said request of termination until a later date. She subsequently billed me in full for these “reviews,” and refused to provide any thoughts/output/product of said “review.” I felt like I had money deducted from my retainer out of spite, to be quite honest. After receiving my last bill I was left with a very small portion of my retainer, mostly due to these “reviews” that took place after I formally requested to terminate our professional relationship. Initially, I was told that this retainer would be enough to cover all communication with her, review of my documents and for her to attend a 2 hour mediation session with me; when I received what was left of this retainer (I still, to this date, have not received any product of her “reviews,” nor did she attend any Court hearings or mediation sessions with me), there was not even enough to cover a single mediation session. I solicitously related all of my concerns, in the form of written feedback, to her and her office, basically to provide constructive criticism in regards to my experience, as well as to have some of my concerns addressed. I also asked for the product of the work that I was billed for (and did not receive any output from). I did not receive even so much as a phone call or email back from her, which I found very telling of the entire situation. Needless to say, I cannot recommend her in good conscience to anyone looking for a family law attorney. The experience I have had with my new lawyer, including the first mediation session, is night and day compared to the interactions I had with Kysa over the span of a month. I am extremely grateful that I decided to retain different counsel when I did since I feel that the outcome of the initial mediation session would not have been as positive with Kysa due to the aforementioned lack of communication, preparation, etc.
