Crux Fermentation Project

About

Crux is a crossroads, an intersection, the heart of something. In brewing it's that pivotal point where fermentation happens and anticipation mounts.

Story

We may be a bit hard to find, but we're right smack in the middle of Bend, Oregon. Take the road less traveled and brave the "Private Road" and "No Outlet" signs— you'll be rewarded with 20+ original craft beers on tap and an expansive panoramic view of the Cascade Mountains which at dusk hosts Central Oregon's most incredible sunsets.

Our tasting room is right in the middle of our brewery, partly because that's all the space we had left— but mostly because we wanted to give you the opportunity to experience the sites, sounds and wonderful aromas of the craft brewing process.

Wow an amazing place for food, beer, and fun. Great tasting room/restaurant with inviting industrial design throughout. Excellent beer selection and lots of cool "experimental" taps. Food was superb and tasty with attention to detail and quality using many local ingredients, and tapped beers for sauces. Service was great with knowledgeable staff that can answer any question. Prices are reasonable considering quality. Hands down a must-go place if you are in town.

The wife and I always come to Crux when we are in Bend. We love the creative beers and comfortable environment. This time we experienced the worst display of customer service I have ever seen. We were suprised to see plenty of seating when we arrived and we grabbed at table. We sat for 15 minutes before the server (Tommy) came by and dropped a couple clipboards with menus on the table dramatically. He didn't say a word or make eye contact. We waited an additional ten minutes for him to return and take our order. We decided to just grab a beer and not eat due to our first impression of our server. He took our order and arrived ten minutes later with my wife's beer only. Didn't say a word and walked off. Finally after ten more minutes he arrived with my beer. I saw that the problem was the keg was blown, but Tommy didn't inform me, or ask if I had an alternate choice. The man did not say two words, or smile our entire visit. All in all, the worst experience I've had at a Bend brewery.

If any other breweries are reading this, please save yourself a lot of time and don't do any collaborations with this brewery. I also want to let the general public know that the owner Larry Sidor works his employees to the bone here. Some of his employees are salaried but yet he makes them work 12-13 hour days and on top of that is never happy with their work. So while employees are busting their butt off to make good beer for all you in the general public, the owner is very condescending and arrogant. There is an expression around the brewery... "Oh you just got Larryed"... meaning you just got talked to in a condescending fashion, etc etc". And if you Larry ever come across this review, please take the time to treat your fellow employee right. That comes with treating them decent on a day to day basis. Even your son who you have slaving away at your company does NOT want to work for you or take over your business. That says a lot in how you treat your employees as well as your own family members. For the general public.... Here is a picture of him below. If you ever see this horrible human being run the other way. Karma will come and do its thing. That I know for sure.

Some of the best beer(IPAs) in town and the best view of the mountains from a brewery. Definitely worth going during sunset.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived on an evening that they had a live band and food trucks in their lawn for a fundraiser. It was so nice to be able to enjoy good beer, wonderful weather, and great music.
