Staying at the Millenium Hilton UN Plaza and wanted an Italian dinner on a Saturday night. We randomly chose Da Raffaele and so glad we did. Cozy, quaint and amazing atmosphere. Warm bread immediately served and we never felt rushed throughout the meal. The gnocchi and tagliatelle were homemade with a delicious sauce. The panna cotta was another delicious plate. The owner was gracious and spoke with us at the end. We will definitely seek out this restaurant on a future trip to NYC!
Wow! What an amazing dinner experience all around. Between the food, the atmosphere, the service, and the authenticity, I wouldn’t change anything and I highly recommend others to go for a lovely dinner. The owner is very kind and welcoming and makes sure to come say hello to every table. The food is very authentic, being reminiscent of your grandmas Sunday dinner, and the portions will leave you feeling full and satisfied. Will definitely be back! 10/10.
I have been eyeing the restaurant for two years so I was thrilled to finally try it out! From start to finish the complete restaurant experience lived up to my hope. First, I chose the restaurant for the vegetable sauces that accompany dishes from pasta, risotto to seafood. Ordering was easy, we just got three entrees for the two of us: We started with the pappardelle with zucchini puree and walnuts, with a dollop of ricotta. The pappardelle had nice ribbed edges and the sauce was creamy and flavorful with leaves of fresh basil. Next: I ordered the Mixed Seafood Grill, which was chock full of different kinds of seafood, including monkfish !, scallops, shrimp, calamari. It was just wonderful with nice size pieces of seafood. My husband got the special of branzini pasta first time ever seeing branzini served this way, which had a light pomodoro sauce. Wine was nicely poured, a chardonnay Rode and a chianti. Service was outstanding everything was at a nice pace, not ever being rushed, but never having to wait, either. Lovely atmosphere: beautiful large artwork on the walls, white table cloths, and best of all, tables well spaced apart. Everything was first rate here at Da Raffaele. We can't wait to come back!
Excellent intimate place for our Anniversary dinner, the owner and waiter were extremely accommodating! The food, drinks, and wine were excellentall while being fairly priced for a Mid Town restaurant. In particular the lava cake and pistachio cake were amazing. It’s always a pleasure to eat somewhere that you can see and taste the passion the owner and staff have for their craft. We will certainly be returning when we are back in NYC.
The prices on the website are not accurate I ordered the spaghetti and arancini off the take out menu which would come to $31 before tax. I was charged $48. The food was no where close to good enough for that price, and on top of that they are misleading customers with prices on their website. Spaghetti was incredible forgetful and the meatballs were very bad I had high hopes and was extremely let down, and I’m referring to the food. Not the pricing.
Please do yourself a favor and think carefully before coming here. A lot of people pick their restaurants based on online menu’s but do not make that mistake here. Price: The menu doesn’t match and the prices online are significantly lower. This place is wildly overpriced compared to the other restaurants in the neighborhood, even restaurants closer to Times Square are less. I ordered a lamb osobucco special and it was $44. I could’ve gotten a filet elsewhere. Quantity: One of the things you can typically depend on with authentic Italian food is generous portions but definitely not here. The portions are very small and come with absolutely no side at all. No pasta, nothing. My wife’s chicken had a piece of cauliflower just stuck on top congealed into the cheese? Quality: again, lacking. I’m sad to say that this place presents itself as authentic old school Italian but the flavors are absolutely not there. We were criminally overcharged for food that I could make a more tasty version of. Obviously we will not be returning and I caution others to read carefully and adjust expectations. I’m not trying to tank a local business but enough is enough. This place is taking advantage of people. 2/5 being generous.
First time at this establishment, saw great things about it on Yelp and Open Table and the word was true. Chose this place to meet with friends visiting NYC. One negative is they were supposed to check out covid vaccination status and they didn't bother and we were eating inside, luckily we were all vaccinated and not close to any other patrons so it wasn't a big deal but that was one thing that was weird. Otherwise this place is maybe a hidden gem. The service was warm and not over bearing, knew when to come around and to just largely leave us be. The ambience of the place is very nice, inviting, it was also quiet for a restaurant perfect to have a conversation and catch up over good food. As for the food, everything tasted great, well made and presented, really cannot complain. Will definitely recommend.
The owner is hustling around in the front of the house and is very pleasant. Another server as well, very kind and informed. The atmosphere is uncrowded yet cozy, nice art, faux beams. All good. Food is great. As with another reviewer we ordered the mixed seafood grill and pappardelle w zucchini purée, walnuts, and ricotta. Both excellent. Generous wine pours. Great ricotta cheese torte for dessert. Will return with our friends.
Hidden gem nuzzled in a cozy atmosphere. The best pasta e fagioli I ever had. Everything on the menu is authentic. Owner is hands on and throughly involved in the operation. Much better then the other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.
Terrific food and service! The seaweed doughy appetizer is a new dish for me and it tasted amazing! For the main, I had the risotto with sweet Italian sausage, celery and saffron and the risotto was cooked perfectly. Great flavors
