They wrote a parking ticket. When I called and asked to dispute it no one called back. Meanwhile I mailed a check for $50 for the ticket. A couple months later I got a letter from their collection agency saying that they're charging a late fee of $68!! When I called (several runarounds) and sent proof of payment for the original ticket, they would not accept it as paid on time. So, a $50 ticket cost me $118 - ripoff......

I found 2 of the 3 respondents I talked to at Davis PD to be rude and condescending. Its their job to take issues seriously, and I just don't feel like they did at all. Told to call another number once, told that I'd be phoned back a second time. The thing is, that the problem that I was calling about was not even mine. They made me feel like I was not doing the right thing, that I was wasting their time and as if it was my job to take care of this. Waste of my time.

They're a police department. They do what they do well and are friendly. I like their citizen class where they teach about citizen rights and how their department works. I myself have never been treated negatively from Davis PD (the same cannot be said about Yolo Sheriff, CHP, or the dreaded UCD police). I think when people realize that we have to take care of things ourselves and cannot expect the police to do everything for us, they will see that our city police do a fine job.

I'm giving the Davis Police Department 1 star because unlike some other cities in this Country, they do not investigate deaths at Sutter Hospital. I'm not sure what is more important, making sure deaths at our hospitals having no criminal negligence involved or whatever else the DPD had going on August 10th or any of the following days. I'm just told I need to pay a lawyer to get any information about my mother's death since Hospitals get to keep a lot confidential. There's no morgue at Sutter Hospital in Davis since people don't die there often. If a member of the Davis community dies at Sutter Hospital and it is unexpected, the police should invistigate it... otherwise how can anyone aging in Davis have any confidence in the quality of care givin currently everyone inside Davis Sutter has immunity from manslaughter, which is what is being investigated in Hollywood Florida over the unexpected deaths at a nursing facility this week. Davis, as usuall, has their priorities out of whack and my mother likely died early, 6 years into retirement due to this department's culture of not investigating any deaths within Sutter Hospital. I have called this police department three times, spoke to three seperate officers who have each become short tempered with me. Guess it's roid rage or something, I have no clue but I know steroid use likely goes un investigated out here too. Been in Davis since 1985, friend of my mother left DPD in the 90's so I'm not some clueless out of town person who just moved here like some of these DPD officers. Really not sure why I'm hearing everyday about the Hollywood Florida DA opening a criminal investigation over the unexpected deaths at a nursing home out there. It just seems like a retired cop had a mother at that same facility... It'd be nice to hear the Davis Police Cheifs opinion on this, and it would be better if I don't have to ask in a court room.
